Gillman Subaru San Antonio Service Center

I’ve decided to start documenting each of my service visits for consistency and transparency. During today’s visit, I arrived and noticed an employee standing near the service check-in sign wearing a Subaru shirt and looking at his phone. He approached my passenger-side window and greeted me with “what’s up?”—which didn’t feel aligned with a typical professional service greeting. After I explained I was there for service, he directed me to go inside to complete check-in. Once inside, I checked in with my assigned service advisor without any issues. That portion of the experience was smooth and professional. About 30-45 minutes later, while waiting in the waiting area, I received my inspection video. My vehicle is a 2024 with approximately 15,000 miles, so I didn’t expect any major concerns, but I reviewed the video regardless. Most of the inspection appeared standard and in order. However, I did notice an issue with how the technician demonstrated brake pad thickness. The measuring tool was used incorrectly. The tech had inserted it perpendicular to the brake pad surface with the wheel still on the vehicle. (See photo) Industry standard practice is to measure parallel to the pad surface, with the wheel removed, to accurately show thickness and remaining life. The method shown in the video does not provide a reliable or meaningful measurement. I brought this to the attention of a member of management in the service area, who acknowledged the issue and stated that technicians had previously been coached not to perform inspections in this manner. Aside from these concerns, the visit was otherwise routine.

On 06/04/2026 I took my 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Limited in to have a set of Body Side Cladding installed by your service department at the Gillman Subaru of San Antonio/Selma, Texas. The work was performed within two hours and looks amazing. My Service Advisor was Marissa Carreon who helped the entire process for this effort take place. Thanks to all concerned!

My experience was amazing thanks to miss Marissa Carreon from the service department. I came in with a problem on my warranty and she immediately responded with trying to find the solution to my situation. Although I have a bit of a hard time and was visibly frustrated I explained my situation to her and without hesitation and with a positive, caring, and problem solving attitude she got it taken care of. She immediately had the finance department called, the sales department and even her general manager called to all look in on the situation to get it resolved quickly and efficiently. Even hours after my servicing was complete she had called me directly from the service department to clear up any problems and miscommunicated info there may have been, assuring me that my warranty would be fixed in a matter of little time. She had also assured me that she’d give me a call back directly from that same line once the issue with my warranty had been resolved a 10/10 experience and will definitely be asking for her help again any time I find myself at the Gillman location again.

My Wife and I have been part of the Subaru Family since 2020. Our Service Advisor from the start has been Marissa Carreon. Marissa continues to be courteous, while always displaying a positive attitude about her job as a top performing service advisor. Her professionalism and knowledge is nothing short of outstanding. I truly value her opinion and recommendations on work that should be performed on my vehicle. She has my ultimate trust and respect for what she does on a daily basis. As far as I’m concerned she’s always a 10. Hopefully you see her worth as well, and can reward her for being an excellent service advisor.

I really like Gillman Subaru's appointment system. I was met by a technician the moment I arrived for my Forester's 6 mo/6,000 mile checkup. I received text updates on the progress and was back in my (now clean) vehicle in about an hour. That free car wash was a nice treat -- thanks, Devon. I'll be back.
