Since so many people on the NextDoor app made the recommendation, I went with Gardner's to repair my car last month. They seemed like really nice people and I was excited to get started with them. I gave them the insurance quote and they took a copy. I have never gone through this before and let them know. They told me they would send their estimate to the insurance company since the insurance company did not account for the suspension damage so they would need more money than what was offered to fix it. I asked about how long that would take and they told me I would know in about a week if they were going to pay to fix it or total it out (the car is completely drivable). I waited a couple of weeks before I called them and found out nothing was done yet. No estimate was started and they had not spoken with the insurance company. The woman I spoke too sounded upset about having a bunch of cars they were waiting on supplemental payments for and that they are closing by the end of the year. Needless to say, I went somewhere else. I found another place that told me they had to have the car to tear it down to check for all damage before they could send supplementals to the insurance company. At that point, if the insurance company agrees to pay for it, the repairs can begin. I really wish I knew that!! I wanted to give Gardner the business but between them doing nothing while I am waited and then telling me they are shutting down by the end of the year, I just couldn't risk my primary mode of transportation.
