Cruz Tires - Tire Repair Shop & Changing Service, Quality & Affordable New Tires in Lakewood CA

My daughter bought a used tire from this place a couple of days ago. The sidewall blew out last night while on the 710 going 70 mph. AAA is going to swap it out today with the spare. We will be going back there tomorrow after they open to get a refund. I don't trust their judgement of what constitutes a good used tire. *****UPDATE***** They replaced the tire for free. I'm hoping this was just a fluke accident. We will be watching this one though. I asked my daughter if they gave her an apology for the tire. She said "I don't know I don't understand spanish". For the record she speaks absolutely NO SPANISH. They couldn't take the time to talk to her in english, so I am assuming that they spoke about her.

Great place to get tires. They stock a mix of sizes and have used and new. But the main issue is just the time to get work done here. They really need to fix their system or checking people in. Basically you just park where you can and have to flag a worker down. First time I worked my way to the front of the line as cars finished, then finally got to the front and waited another hour without any help. Finally a customer saw me and told me the only way to get service was by physically getting a worker and making them walk to your car. If not you’ll wait there all day. Even after doing that I still waited another hour. All in told it took me 3 hours just to get 1 tire changed. I do come back here regularly now because their stock selection and prices. But I just know to flag someone down. Even then expect close to 2 hours.

As an African American customer, I had a very disappointing experience at Cruz Tires. When I arrived, I was not greeted or acknowledged by any employee. I waited for approximately 20–30 minutes while several Hispanic/Mexican customers who arrived after me were assisted before I was. During that time, employees walked past me multiple times without offering help or even acknowledging my presence. The only time anyone finally approached me was when I decided to leave and started pulling away. I cannot know the intentions behind the way I was treated, but based on what I experienced, I felt ignored and unwelcome. No customer should have to wait 20–30 minutes without being acknowledged, especially while others who arrived later are being helped. Because of this experience, I do not recommend and will not be returning.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the unacceptable service I received at Cruz Tires on 6/6/25 during the purchase and installation of two new tires. Upon arrival, I waited for over 30 minutes without being acknowledged or offered any assistance. Despite making prior arrangements by phone--where I was told the shop had 275/60/20 tires in stock--l received no guidance or updates during my long wait. When someone finally helped me, one of the workers rolled out a 275/60/20 A/ T tire and confirmed it was the correct size I had requested and was quoted for. After what should have been a routine tire change turned into a three-hour wait, I inspected my vehicle and discovered that 265/60/20 tires had been installed instead of the 275/60/20 tires I paid for and was promised. When I questioned this, I was told that they did not have the correct size in stock--despite confirming it twice beforehand: once over the phone and again in person before installation. Adding to the frustration, after 1 pointed out the wrong size, I was told the correct 275/60/20 tires were located at another lot and I would have to wait another 1.5 hours for someone to bring them. This would have extended my visit to nearly five hours for a basic two-tire replacement. To make matters worse: * The originally quoted price of $250 over the phone, than $280 in person before service and then was increased to $290 after service, without notice. * I was told there would be a $30 card processing fee--a fee that is unusually high and significantly above the standard $3-$8 range for debit transactions. * I had to request a receipt instead of receiving one automatically, which should be standard practice. This experience was both disappointing and unacceptable. The lack of communication, bait-and-switch tactics, and unprofessional customer service reflect poorly on your business. It is especially concerning that tires of the wrong size were installed without informing me or getting my approval, which could have led to safety risks. This is not only unacceptable but misleading, and it raises concerns about the integrity of the service provided. I also strongly recommend Cruz Tires implement better customer service protocols, clearer communication, and fair, transparent pricing to prevent future incidents like this. Please Beware of Javier and short man possibly the owner since it looked like he was calling the shots and making final decisions and prices. They are the once who created this egregious experience for me, I would be highly advised to record them quoting prices to you in person before service so if you get anything else told you after service you can play it back and correct it.

I had a very concerning experience at this shop. My friend and I went in for a tire installation, and shortly after leaving, one of the wheels came off while exiting the freeway. It was later determined that the lug nuts had not been properly installed. This was an extremely dangerous situation that could have resulted in serious injury. To their credit, the shop initially acknowledged the issue and agreed to repair the damage. However, the quality of the repairs was substandard and did not fully address the damage caused. Since then, attempts to follow up with the owner have gone unanswered, which is disappointing given the severity of the situation. I strongly recommend that others exercise caution and double-check all work performed here, especially when it comes to critical safety components.
