Tier One Performance

I am writing this to share my experience regarding the integrity and work ethic at Tier One. While they are capable of performing repairs, my experience over the last few years has been defined by poor craftsmanship, overcharging, and a lack of accountability. Initially, I hired them to replace a motor mount and an inner tie rod. While the work was done quickly, I discovered that the mechanic, Lane, had cut corners by slicing the rubber boot and failing to secure it, leaving the grease exposed. Later, I contracted them to install an assortment of suspension and brake parts I had provided. I was charged over $3,000 in labor for what should have been a standard one-day job. Upon picking up the vehicle, I discovered a dangerous crack in the steering knuckle (spindle) where the ball joint seats—damage caused by over-tightening during installation. When I confronted the shop, management (Chance) lied, claiming the damage was pre-existing, despite my proof to the contrary. They then charged me to replace the part they broke. Furthermore, they claimed to 'warranty' a brand-new caliper I provided, only to return a different, poorly repainted unit. As someone who has known the ownership since youth, I find this lack of honesty and the disregard for my safety on the road deeply disappointing. I cannot recommend this shop. I forgot to mention that in the middle of said repairs I stopped by their shop and Lane had started to roll my rear quarter panels resulting in permanent damage with small dents in the arch of the rear fenders. I was shocked that someone would do something like this especially without consulting me first or asking for my permission. Again, they did not apologize nor did they offer me any kind of compensation for damages they deliberated caused. PSS. I forgot to add they forgot a specific component on both rear brake drums internally that I later would pay another mechanic to diagnose and fix after driving around with what I had convinced myself was a monkey with a tampering in my trunk. PSSS. Chase I messaged you on Facebook messenger after you immediately called me the following morning. It doesn’t matter how you try to represent yourself here, because the facts are within a series of photos, videos and receipts that I have. My geotagging is on and has been for 15 years and everything I do is literally recorded. Chase, you lied to my face. I was almost in tears. I won’t even read this because you trying to discredit the validity of my claims is already adding to the layer of disappointment I experienced through you. So tell me Chase, did you cover for Lane or did you know? Because Lane sure as heck didn’t call me immediately after installing pre-assembled control arms (with ball joints and both bushings) to tell me how he had just installed them and somehow managed to install said BALL JOINT INTO THE LOWER PORTION OF THR CONTROL ARM WHICH IS TIGHTENED BY ONE THREADED BOLT THROUGH THE LOWER EAR OF THE CONTROL ARM OVER THE BALLJOINT. YOU CANT DO THAT. And I don’t know you well enough to be able to gauge your understanding of the craft, but you either covered for your mechanic to save him from the embarrassment or you didn’t know. You allowed me to drive away with a broken steering knuckle without anyone telling me and watched me drive away. You guys broke my steering knuckle, then lied to me by claiming “it was already like that”, then made me pay to replace the broken one which you broke. Now I am a reasonable person in the sense it is a 2012 and not a 2024. So maybe my steering knuckle was old; but that’s not what you said. You said IT WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. And I will be glad to show you the months of video and photos I saved leading up to the point I wasn’t allowed to work on my car in my driveway that I use for work specifically to deliver with, and decided last moment to hire you to do what I had been saving all those parts to do myself.

I brought my 2021 Subaru STI to this shop to address a bad air/fuel ratio issue and a P0171 lean code. After paying around $800, I got the car back and it was still having the same problem, so the issue was not fully resolved. From my understanding, two sensors were replaced, including one used sensor, and I was never provided a receipt. The staff was friendly and professional, and I appreciated that, but I do wish there had been more transparency about the work performed and the overall diagnosis. I understand that issues like this can sometimes take time to fully sort out, but it was disappointing to still have the same problem after spending that amount. I was also concerned that the next recommendation was another $900 for a dyno tune before the original issue had been resolved. I was hoping for clearer communication and a more complete solution.

Best Subie shop in Spokane. Needed a part replaced asap and they were able to squeeze me in and have me back on the road in no time!

Went there for an inspection for a stutter on my car, charged me 130$ drove my car and only did a smoke test, didn’t solve anything. They told me to get a 4k stand alone system because they couldn’t figure anything out I literally pressure tested my pipes sprayed with soapy water fixed the boost leaks and it runs correct now, waste of time and money and tried to get 4k outta me
