Tarrant County Tax Assessor-Collector

I visited the Tarrant Tax Assessor Office to pay my property taxes as a walk-in, without an appointment. I went around 11 a.m. and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great experience overall.

I had an appointment at this location for title transfer and the entire process was incredibly smooth. I was in and out within 10 minutes! The staff was professional, organized, and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. Everything was handled efficiently, and they made what’s usually a stressful task quick and easy. I really appreciated how punctual they were and how prepared they seemed when I arrived. Highly recommend to anyone who wants fast, hassle-free service!

Being new to Texas, I was having stress over registering my vehicle correctly, making sure I had all the correct documentation and insurance coverage. After waiting only a few minutes, I was called to a window where Sheila was working and assisted me. She was so calming, respectful, and helpful that my stress melted away as she completed her part in my registration process. I hope her place of employment has Sheila train others to be as respectful, helpful, and calming as she is! PS. She also helped me with another very important question regarding a particular job in the area. What an amazing woman!!

Fast and friendly service. I went right at 8:00am when they opened. They had 3 employees working at the window. There were about 8 people in front of me, but I was able to be seen quickly and finished my transaction about 20 minutes later.

This location has been a complete headache for me. Moved to TX and went in to do a title transfer and register one of my vehicles. Clerk ended up asking me about a bill of sale even though I didn't purchase the vehicle, I was moving the title and registration to TX. I was then asked what the value of it was, so they could charge me sales tax. I just went with it in case this was a new thing TX did, but I started looking it up after and found that I should have only paid for the new resident fee, not sales tax. I ended up calling the main office thinking maybe because it's the "main" office" they'd have the answers, and they advised that I was charged in error and I needed to call that location back to get a refund. I called the southlake office back and they agreed that they messed up, but it was going to take 6-8 WEEKS to get my refund. So for my other 2 vehicles, I went to another tax office to hopefully not have a bad experience. The location I went to advised that my 2 other vehicles required me to have pictures of the frame numbers (Vin number) since they weren't a traditional 17 digit VIN number (one is a classic from 71 which is pre-vin number, and the other 2 are imports that don't have vin numbers). I then asked that clerk why I had to submit pictures of my frame numbers THERE when I didn't have to do it at the southlake office, and she advised that if they didn't take a picture of my frame number, it's probably just sitting there in a rejected status. SURE ENOUGH, I call the southlake office and they confirm that it's just sitting there in a rejected status, to which my thought is, how long would it have sat there before someone was going ot tell me if I didn't call?! And why was it not told to me at the time I was getting this set up that I needed a picture? I HAD a picture ready on my phone that I could have sent them at that time as well, but it was never brought up.
