Costco Tire Service Center

1 Star This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at Costco. Unknown to me, one of the four tires on my car, that had previously been installed by another “big company” tire shop, was the wrong size. Unfortunately, that was the tire I used to get the tire size when ordering a new set of tires from Costco. After waiting 8 days for the tires to arrive, scheduling an installation appointment, and standing in line for 20 minutes, the Costco Tire Center Manager refused to install them because they matched the incorrectly sized tire that was already on the vehicle. I completely understand Costco having safety policies, and I appreciate that they don't want to install the wrong tire size. My issue wasn't the decision to stop the installation—it was the complete lack of effort to help resolve the problem. The other three tires on my car are all the same size, and that size is only about 1.8% larger than the factory specification. Costco's own Service Notes (see pic) state: "Member has requested an alternative tire fitment that is greater than 3% in overall diameter from the original equipment size." The tire size I asked Costco to order was not greater than 3% from the original equipment size. I simply asked the manager to help me order the correct size to match the other three tires already on the car. He refused. Instead of helping resolve the issue, he put in writing (see pic) that the car was unsafe and that I have the car towed from the Costco parking lot! So, after waiting more than a week for the tires to arrive, I left empty-handed, frustrated, and being told to call a tow truck. Costco usually sets the standard for customer service. Unfortunately, this Tire Center experience fell far short of those expectations.

Over the past few years, the service at the Costco Tire Center seems to have declined. In the past, installing new tires usually took about an hour and a half. By the time I finished shopping, I only had to wait another 15–30 minutes before my car was ready. However, during my last two visits for tire rotation and balancing, the process was much slower. I noticed staff members starting work on one car and then switching to another before finishing the first one. This approach made the workflow appear inefficient and slowed down the overall service. Costco has always had a reputation for good service and value, so I hope the tire center can improve its efficiency and reduce the wait time for customers. I don’t have any issue with the tires or with the staff, only issue is the time it takes for a service to be completed, not everyone one have a 2-3 hour waiting time for a service after they book an appointment for service a while ago. For example if you bought your tires in Costco, for installation service you wait for 2-3 hours even though you have an appointment, once they are installed and you have a issue like flat tire or loosing air pressure or any issue related to tire again you need to book an appointment and wait for 2-3 hours for the service. I agree that Costco is good, do you have 2-3 hours time to spend after booking an appointment every time you have an issue ? Think about it….

The only thing I hate about this tire center is the mismanagement and being short-staffed. They need to have dedicated staff to handle sales, pickups, etc. One counter and one person doing everything means you're stuck in a long line for hours.

I wouldn’t choose this center. Worst customer service ever. Every time you have to wait forever to drop off your key for just tire rotation and wait even longer for them to finish. Even their personnel saw you are waiting at the counter. That doesn’t mean they will check on you. The appointment time doesn’t mean anything. I have never been served on time. Every time is 30 minutes wait before they take your key.
