I had my 2014 Silverado 6l80 transmission rebuilt by Herman / Steven. Good communication with them, sent me photos of how cooked the transmission was when it was torn apart. I went ahead and got the transmission cooler installed by them as well, trans temps are around 150 in HEAVY stop and go traffic on 35's and around 120 on highway I had a small leak from the cooler lines, but I showed up and Steven took care of the issue right away with no questions. Going on almost a year and 12k miles on the rebuilt transmission and still drives a lot better than it did before with the new torque converter and upgraded components. Highly recommend getting your transmission shift points tuned by a local tuner if you want your truck to shift better and transmission temp stays cooler than factory, especially if you have oversized tires. For GM vehicles, I can recommend RM Tuning (@rm2uning) in Houston, they will fix your factory shift points / turn on radiator fans earlier / calibrate your tire size if needed. Temperature plays a important part in the life of your GM transmission and won't cause your torque converter to over heat causing another rebuild. This is a known GM issue so get the trans cooler and get it tuned to save you money in the long run!

This will be long review. But hears how it goes. Took him a tci 700r4 to have a bench job. (rebuild) 1800 dollars. Quick turn around great. Put it in and the pump pressures were very earadic. So he said bring it back and he would put a new pump and valvebody. Another 500dollars. My first though was didn't the rebuild include the pump. Took right at a month to get it back. Put back in. This time no fourth shift and was slipping badly. So this time he said bring the truck (64 C10 this truck had never been left out over night since the build show quality) he said he would keep it in his shop. He lied. He left it out side 4or 5 nights. That was when we where having sure heavy dues. The custom wood in the bed runt. Talked to him about it all he had to say was read the sign on the building. He has no respect for classic autos And as for as the transmission. The new builder said that it was not a new pump. Show way to much wear. So run from Herman and black cat transmission. He is a lier...

Would not recommend. 1 failed torque converter, 4 different leaks, and transmission shifts harsh most days and smooth every now and again. Refused to pay for tow for all repairs and tried having me pay for the failed torque converter. Will also make many empty promises in terms of the time needed to complete the job, he’ll say a week then take 2-3 weeks which happened on two occasions already. Transmission is still under warranty however under no circumstances would I take my truck back over here, I’d have better luck fixing it myself. Currently leaking from input shaft area and has had the transmission cooler lines that they put on come off 3x already, they came out to fix the line the first time then the exact same line came off two weeks later costing me ATF when I called he told me to pay for tow. Again a couple months later a different transmission cooler line came off as well. Also has a disgusting rattle in reverse.

Pics speak for them selves, Herman’s machinist resurfaced my bell housing to much which initially started my clutch problems. The fire was from him not putting effort in the work.

Does great on transmissions. Probably because he sends them out. I dont know. But i do know that if you have anything else done( differential seal), you will have problems down the road. When you try to get in touch for warranty, no answer. They did my rear dif seal and tightened the nut to the pinion shaft too tight causing the bearing to prematurely fail. Talking after 5 months. Now im replacing it myself because Im not stupid and know you only tighten that nut until the backlash is at a minimal. Any tighter, and the bearing will be crushed. I will never refer or use this shop again. They need more training. Reply to Blk cat transmission. Um do i need to screenshot our conversation? Or lack there of? The reason i had you put a new seal in is because i knew about it and kept putting oil in there. It never ran low. Infact, that oil you dumped, was brand new I didn't have a problem with the differential before because i made sure that the oil was always full. The seal leak wasn't even that bad but i wanted it changed out since you had the drive shaft disconnected. The fact that you saw my message and did not reply, tells me you are not a credible shop. I will however give you some credit as the transmission rebuild is running strong with no problems. But you should have responded to my messages. Or at least acknowledged them. Its funny that it was only the pinion bearings that wore prematurely. None of the other bearings were worn beyond the years they have been in service. I can show you pictures to verify. Including the wheel bearings. When i saw the pinion bearings, I knew what had happened. Thats why I messaged you.
