Kimberly and Tim are such an amazing duo. Kimberly was the sweetest. We had bought my son a manual transmission 2014 mustang and his 2nd gear locked up. I was able to get it to the shop the next day and Tim immediately took it for a test drive. Kimberly called me back with Tim on the phone and they explained that the repair was something minimal and didn’t even charge us - nothing. What could have been an easy upsale of at least labor, was zero. If you need ANY work done THIS is 100% the place to go - not because I didn’t get charged but because from the second I spoke with Tim and Kimberly I felt so at ease and welcomed. Thanks y’all!

Mechanics like Tim are a dying breed of mechanic who can diagnose issues without needing a computer to tell him what the problem is like so many of the “mechanics” today. He’s hands on and honest who has decades of experience working on vehicles, his knowledge is broad, however, these days he chooses to just work on transmissions mainly, it seems allowing him to get you in and out relatively quickly. Tim is a very approachable person and will shoot straight with you. Now that I’ve discovered him, I will not take my vehicles anywhere else for transmission related issues. On top of that, he comes highly recommended among other fellow mechanics who have auto shops, which is the highest compliment he can get, as other seasoned well respected five star Shops hire Tim to work on their transmissions and outsource to him. Word of advice though, if you call him and get voicemail, you may want to go by his shop personally as he is usually in the garage doing his thing. Easy five stars, I tell everybody I know about his place.

Yates Garage/Transmission gets 5 stars because they are the absolute best! From the moment you speak to Kimberly who constantly keeps you abreast of what's going on with your vehicle to Tim and his crew who show you what parts needs to be replaced by showing you and explaining the damaged parts. My son's truck literally limped to their garage and they managed to complete the rebuild in 3 days! Absolutely incredible! (Technically 2 days, but Tim kept the truck an extra day so the rebuilt transmission would relearn shift points from the PCM/ECM when he would take it out for multiple drives. They kept the price within their estimated quote which I figured it would cost. Now, transmission rebuilds are not cheap, but like a roof and a/c unit on your house which are the 2 most expensive parts of your home, the transmission and engines are the most expensive parts on your car. So, keep that in perspective. If you live in Cypress and the surrounding area and you need transmission work, they are THE place to get good service. The service and communication from Tim and Kimberly Yates is worth every penny!

I stopped by Yates, to have my clutch and shifter checked out to make sure everything was adjusted correctly. The clutch needed adjustment and Tim did that quickly easily, but he also was able to pinpoint a problem I was going to have someone else look at. Tim does an excellent job of explaining the work he performed and even someone without vehicle knowledge should understand. I look forward to working with Tim and Yates in the future.

Tim and Kimberly are amazing. Kept in contact with me the entire step of the way and my Mazda drives better than ever. I was afraid of anyone working on my transmission after the horror stories I hear but Tim did an amazing job working on my car and even found other things wrong with my car and let me know to get those things worked on whenever I could. This is our new family’s go to shop for our car needs. Thank you so much again for helping get behind the wheel of my baby again!
