Classic Auto Air

The salesman was less than honest about the details of the system. After receiving my $2000+ air conditioning system and finding the discrepancies i called and was told they would not make thing right but, I could return the system back to them, eat the shipping with ways, wait on them to spend weeks inspecting the system, and then they might maybe offer to give me a full or partial refund or no refund at all. They saw me coming from a long ways off, I can not recommend anybody do business with them .

Bought a retrofit kit from them for 1965 mustangs. The evaporator core was too tall to let the original underdash case close properly and the copper tubes on the evap were directly in the way of the mounting screws. Using the original screws would cause them to puncture, but no new screws or instructions to get shorter ones were provided. When I did call about this, they said that it was from original air (although the Sales order was from Classic Auto Air) and that original air no longer exists and because of that it wasn't there problem. In full transparency this was far beyond the date I received the item because as we all know the parts industry has gone down the drain- causing car builds/restos to take much longer and sometimes new parts sit in boxes for this reason. Regardless, it would have happened if I attempted the install sooner, and a good company would want to make right.

2) this is my second review of Classic Auto Air. Keep reading for my first down below. Needed a valve and solenoid for my 1972 Ford Mustang, and Joseph G was my salesperson / tech again! Luck of the draw. He had me a solution ready to go, in stock, and I picked it up the same day! Can't say enough good things about this firm, and Joseph's courtesy and helpfullness. This is my second experience in 6 months, both 5 star performances! 1) Joseph G, was very helpful with my order.....made sure I had the right fittings etc. Very handy if you are in the Dallas Fort Worth areas as you can drive by and pick up what you need after calling....but I think they are the best solution for any classic car here in the USA.

The only thing Classic Auto Air didn't provide was a cold drink to cool me off in the 1/2 day it took me to install. I actually lost 4 pages of the installation manual and opted to call them rather than download a new manual(my printer at home was on the blink). The staff was quick, clear and very helpful(called 3 times) even though my questions were I'm sure very confusing. The best part is the cooling capacity of the unit. I have a 1978 Blazer. I took my family to target and then to dinner shortly after completion. My 17 year old and 23 year old were in the back seat. The unit kept them cool at 4:00 pm during 99 degree temperature. My 17 year old, who loves my 2024 Tahoe, asked me to turn down the a/c. I have put 250 miles of the truck an can not be happier with the a/c. About to order a unit for my next project.

I've installed two kits, a daily driver under dash kit for a 1966 Mustang and a full kit for a 1967 Mustang. The kit itself is fantastic. Blows ice cold, heat is great. The full kits controls and functions are a little weird, I cannot do dash and floor at the same time, and the A/C compressor runs full time unless I do full heat, there is no option to just have the fan run. Oh well. The instructions in my opinion are abysmal, and do very poor job of describing how to install. There are issues with the descriptions of the kits, the factory brackets do not work on most single pulley systems, and found this out after purchase during installation, which pushed back the timeline. Wasn't really discussed when purchasing the kit over the phone. The cowl block off plate mounting holes do not line up anywhere close. Definitely do your own background research before purchasing and installing to make sure it will work with your system. However, the customer support was fantastic in helping me through it. If the instructions could be updated that would help out a ton. Overall happy with the kits.
