I own what I would call a classic 38yr old 1988 Mazda RX7 convertible, with a Supercharger, K&N filter charger, HKS low resistance/large diameter complete exhaust system, high flow fuel injectors, high performance brake system, front and back spoilers with no rust and never driven in winters or even on rainy days. One morning on a typically drive, it just quit! The Mazda dealership could not make head or tails out of a rotary engine. The closest rotary specialist to my home in Toledo OH was “Defined Autoworks, Mazda rotary performance”, located in Pataskala OH, about 30 miles from Columbus OH. Highly recommended by ChatGPT, Logan, the owner is quite knowledgeable and extremely nice. They are very busy (understandably), so do not expect to get your car back next week. I found out that my oil pump failed causing a catastrophic engine failure. A couple of months and a chunk of money later, I got my RX7 back and it was a delight to drive it again. Yes, rotary engine repairs are expensive since there are only a few specialists; but what was my alternative? Junk a classic car with no rust and everything else working perfectly? With less than 5,000 units manufactured for the American market. It is just an amazing summer cruising car. I absolutely think not! I do certainly would recommend this place to anyone anytime for their RX7’s engine repairs.

I brought my 1990 RX7 to Logan for a several issues-clutch, compression check all fluids changed-he did an outstanding job-gave me a full detail of how my RX7 is and told me it was mechanically in very good shape-very thorough with all testing-definitely he is my go to rx7 guy!! Highly recommend Logan and his team!!!

View on GoogleA couple of years ago I found Logan's shop online and we took my son's RX7 to him to rebuild the rotary engine and install an inter-cooler. We didn't know much about rotaries at the time and based on his reviews, were trusting him to be trustworthy and do a good job. When we picked up the car Logan advised that my son break it in for 1000 miles before having it tuned (his service did not include dyno tuning the car.) Right before he put 1000 miles on it, it developed a serious oil leak, most likely from the rear main seal. Logan's response was to mail us a new seal and to say "good luck". Not long after developing the leak the car starting to become difficult to start. We checked the spark plugs and found that instead of two leading and two trailing plugs all the plugs were trailing (done by Logan.) We have since found a very reputable shop that is very trustworthy with a good track record. When they removed the engine this time they found important parts (pipe for turbo air recirc) and bolts missing. I am not saying that Logan deceived us on purpose. But I question his competence with RX7's and would not engage his services again.
