We came here for a NYS inspection and the technician chose to inspect the car without first checking to see if the car was ready for emissions testing. As a result, he charged us $37 to pass us for the safety inspection and failed us for emissions. He then tells us that he has a tool that can check to see whether the car is ready for emissions inspection, and that if we drive for 50 miles or so we can pay an additional $27 for another emissions test. When we asked why he didn’t check to see whether the car was ready for the emissions testing before charging us $37 (since he has a tool that can do so), he argued that we asked him to do an inspection so he just did an inspection. Very shady business practices. Other places that do NYS inspections automatically check to see whether your car is ready for an emissions test *before* they take your money for the inspection, so that if you need to drive the car for longer before having it inspected, you can. This place chooses not to disclose that information, knowing they can squeeze an extra $27 out of you by simply failing your car on emissions instead.
