Capital District Transmission

So happy getting my service done here. I don’t mind spending money on car repairs so long as i know they’re needed, but it can be hard to know if a mechanic is being honest, or possibly inexperienced, or unselling you services you don’t need. I originally brought my car to a chain, mostly for the convenience. I was told i needed a new transmission which would have been quite expensive. I drive a 2013 subaru forester, it only has 100k mi on so it didnt make sense that the transmission would be going out. I went looking for a second opinion and was told by a family member to look for a transmission specialist. That brought me here to CD transmission. Jimmy was thorough asking questions about what was going on and super transparent diagnosing the car. And clearly experienced. Turned out i had fluid leak, once i got the fluids replaced the car worked fine. He asked if i wanted to get the lines that were likely slow leaking fixed and i did. Car works great, and the cost 1/12 of what it would have been had i gotten the transmission replaced instead. I felt like i could really trust Jimmy and appreciated his honesty and transparency. Highly recommend.

These folks are awesome. They performed a transmission fluid change on my 2020 Altima I set my appointment with them and met them right as they opened. I had an odd request but they did it. Spoke with me and answered my questions without any run around. They were quick to get back to me sooner than they said and my car feels amazing like off the lot. The price was awesome as well Thanks fellas you are S class people.

Brought my daily driver in with a shot transmission. Jimmy & his crew got my van in and out fast! They worked with my vehicles warranty’s And I was driving in 2-3 days! It’s been acouple weeks I’ve had it and she’s driving like a beaut! 😎 I would highly recommend! - Jas

I had a great experience working with these folks to get my transmission replaced. They answered all of my questions (without being patronizing) including letting me know that I had some time before I needed to get the repair done, they offered a range of pricing options for used transmissions, and they took care of the work promptly when I did bring my car in to get it done. I felt like they went above and beyond at each step. I hope I don’t have any more transmission problems so I’d rather not go back myself :) but I’d recommend them to anyone else needing work done!

I highly recommend this place! They are so knowledgeable, affordable, and honest about prices. They were very communicative and even explained to me exactly how the part that I needed worked. Jim is great and runs an amazing shop. Definitely go here if you need car or transmission repair!
