Bought a Chevy Cruze from them, car was in good shape however was loaded with issues. First had issue with thermostat which they addressed and replaced, no big deal. The second issue was a check engine light for “knock control system error” I had the car at two different garages who replaced multiple parts and still couldn’t figure out the problem. At this point I hadn’t even had the car a month. Contacted JR multiple times about the car and how I was without a vehicle for weeks on end as it was tied up in a shop. He had little to no interest in working with me as far as covering repairs, etc. I spent almost 2 grand trying to fix this car and it still had the same problem. After multiple phone calls to the owner he still didn’t seem that interested in wanting to even entertain covering half or even any part of the repairs. I paid over 8 grand for a car I owned for 3 months and used for maybe a month. Ended up trading it in to a different dealership on another car because the issues persisted. So I will say, the cars they sell usually look nice and are in good physical shape however be wary of underlying mechanical issues. They’re quick and eager to sell you a car however once the car has problems they’re not so thrilled to help you.

We had a fantastic buying experience with this small dealer!! My son totaled his car the Friday before Christmas. He found a car at Pete's he was interested in. JR went above and beyond by accommodating us on when we could meet to look at it because we were driving 2h to get there, the Friday before New Year's. I'll admit, I was skeptical because the car was listed significantly lower than any other we had found and it had been in an accident. JR may be the most honest, forthcoming dealer that I've ever met. He offered up information we didn't ask about, brought the car into the shop so my husband could get a better look (it was dark out). He got out cardboard and a flashlight, so he could look underneath and showed him exactly what damage/repairs he could tell had been done to the car. JR explained to my son why his interest rate was higher and exactly what he should focus on to improve it. He explained how to pay extra on the loan and the difference between making payments early vs. paying on the principal. JR didn't force him into buying extra gap insurance, explaining that because his down payment was so large (over 50%) that it would be a waste of money, the car would never be worth less than the loan. Who does that? You just don't find that anymore. I've never had such a great experience with ANY dealer or service station and I'm sure I will be hard pressed to find another. I cannot speak to anything more than the shopping/buying experience, as we just bought the car, but if I were in the market for a used car, I would look at them again.

Never again! I bought 2 cars there. No issues 4 years ago. Second day I had the car the air conditioner wasn't working. Had to bring it in for charging. 2 weeks later the battery died. 2 issues within the first 30 days. They're lucky I love this car. I replaced the battery at an instant oil change shop it since it wouldn't hold a charge and it was 7 pm. I submitted a copy and asked for a refund due to the limited warranty notice that states covered at 100% within the first 3000 miles. No call back. Now they're refusing to reimburse me. The warranty has things they MAY replace. Car had to be jump started, they were closed but I was SUPPOSED to wait for them to open and have them look at it first. I do not think they inspect these cars before they sell them. They definitely do not clean them. Had to take it to the car wash to clean inside and out

I bought a car from Pete Kitt's a few years ago. It was a very nice vehicle and it has served me well. Recently I called them again to look into upgrading into a newer model. Their customer service was as helpful as ever. I had so many questions on how to handle the car I already had, whether to sell it or trade it in, and what's the fastest way to make the upgrade. Customer service handled all the paperwork for me, and it felt so easy. They were patient with me trying to figure out the different makes and models for the upgrade I wanted, and I am very pleased with the final choice I made. I really enjoyed working with them, so it was not simply buying a car, but I feel I even learned some new things about vehicles. I am sure some of these tips will be helpful to me in the future as well! I would definitely recommend them if you are on the market for a vehicle. They are local to Syracuse and have been doing this for 50 years, so that says it all!

Great people to work with! Helpful and experienced! My son and I went there shopping for a car for him. As he is a first time buyer, he was not sure how the process works, and as a mother I was worried he may make a mistake. Pete Kitt's was patient and helpful, they answered all our questions, and to a mother that's what matters. I wanted to be sure my son will get the best car for the money he can afford, something reliable to get to and back from college. The whole process was easy, it took just a day, and my son was so happy to finally be able to have his own car. Thank you for helping us both!
