Hunter went above and beyond. My son was home from Chicago and had to get front end work done to make it home on Monday. Hunter worked on the car on Saturday and needed parts that he received on Sunday and completed repairs on the Memorial Day Holiday. Work was done very well and very reasonably priced.

Hoffman Automotive did a great job fixing my Ford. Hunter kept me in the loop with good communication on what was wrong with my car. The estimate was more than fair, and he was honest with what work needed to be done. Highly recommend.

I went to Hunter to have my rack and pinion replaced as well as outer tie rods installed. After I picked my car back up from Hunter I’ve ran into several issues with the service he provided. The first thing I noticed after receiving my car was that my power steering was whining like crazy, as well as I was having very aggressive vibrations while driving. I texted Hunter and he told me that the power steering whine could be from trapped air in the system and that my wheels had a couple bends on them and could be causing the vibrations. I trusted his word and went ahead to have all of my wheels checked for any issues at farrar wheel repair and they repaired two wheels which had bends. Afterwards I continued to drive with the whine but after about two weeks I found this whine was persistent and it seemed abnormally loud. At this time after having my wheels repaired I also was still dealing with vibration issues. I reached out to Hunter once again about the issues only to receive no response. I then texted again and reached out to him on other social media platforms to still receive no answers. So I had my power steering checked and come to find out the power steering still had a lot of air and I ended up needing to bleed my power steering. After having my power steering bled properly I went ahead to have my vibration issue figured out at belle tire. When I took my car into belle tire I explained the situation I was having with wheel vibration as well as I was experiencing scraping while turning. Belle tire informed me when inspecting my car that there were no jam nuts installed on the inner tie rods to prevent the outer tie rods from unthreading. They also informed me that the outer tie rods which Hunter had installed were installed on the incorrect sides. The scraping noise I was hearing when turning my steering wheel was caused by Hunter incorrectly installing the tie rods on the incorrect sides which led to the outer tie rods scraping up against my wheels. The aggressive vibrations I was dealing with were due to the fact there were no jam nuts installed to lock the outer tie rods in place. Had I not taken my car into belle tire to have it inspected and I continued to drive this situation could’ve ended catastrophic as the outer tie rods were unthreading themselves from the inner tie rod every time I drove. Belle tire then fixed my issue installing the outer tie rods the correct way including jam nuts. After all this was said and done I had to pay an extra $300 to fix hunters installation errors as well as I have to pay $450 to replace the tie rods he ruined from incorrectly installing them. After going to belle tire and having these issues fixed I reached out to Hunter about having a conversation concerning the quality of work I’ve received and seeing if Hunter was willing to correct the services he incorrectly performed. I asked that he reimbursed me for what I had to pay belle tire to fix his mistakes as well as what I would need to pay to replace the tie rods he incorrectly installed and ruined. He told me that the reason there were no jam nuts is because I didn’t supply them, (granted he had my jam nuts from the prior outer tie rods). And that he would replace my aftermarket tie rods for oem tie rods ($450 part compared to a $80 part) and perform an alignment if I would like. I replied stating he never informed me that there were no jam nuts upon installation and that also doesn’t explain the incorrect installation of the outer tie rods. I addressed my concern that Hunter returned my car to me after he serviced it without ever informing me there were no jam nuts installed to lock the outer tie rods in place and that this situation could’ve ended very badly had the outer tie rods disconnected from my car causing an accident. Hunter has not said anything since. This is the most unprofessional situation with a mechanic I’ve witnessed and all I’m asking for is reimbursement for what I’ve paid to fix his errors. I’ve provided pictures of the damage from improper installation and pictures of after belle tire fixed them.
