Needed brakes. Called and talked to Jason. Very knowledgeable. Did not try to over sell. He was able to get the car in today and got the job done quickly. The shop is awesome. Their mascot Bullet is a sweetheart. I highly recommend Rick’s. I will definitely bring my cars for any work that needs to be done.

On December 11, 2024, I visited Ricks Auto Repair to schedule routine maintenance for my 2017 Audi Q7. The services performed included an oil change, filter replacement, coolant flush, and tire rotation. Upon commencing the vehicle after the maintenance, I encountered an error message prompting me to shut off the engine and inspect the coolant level. I subsequently conducted the coolant check and discovered a complete absence of coolant. I contacted Rick’s Auto Repair to investigate the cause of the coolant loss. I provided the vehicle’s mileage at the time of the maintenance (116,031, December 11, 2024) and the return date and mileage (116,571, February 20, 2025). The manager informed me that he was unfamiliar with the situation and suggested that an air pocket could be the cause of the coolant loss. My girlfriend had previously observed wetness beneath the Q7, which I initially attributed to moisture from the air conditioning system dripping onto the driveway. The manager stated that there were no leaks and conducted a pressure test. He concluded that the most probable cause was an air pocket. Following the completion of the test, I was charged an additional $48 to replace the missing coolant and was provided with a new bottle of coolant. On February 5, 2025, I noticed that my lug nut covers were missing. This occurred during the tire rotation performed during the previous maintenance visit. In my opinion, the coolant loss was likely caused by a hose that was not adequately tightened during the previous maintenance visit. The hose subsequently became loose and allowed coolant to drip out. The vehicle has a comprehensive maintenance record, which can be provided upon request. Prior to the service at Ricks Auto Repair, the vehicle had no known issues with coolant or lug covers. I believe that I was unjustly charged an additional fee and that the missing lug nut covers were a result of negligence on the part of the repair shop.

Nice small independent auto maintenance shop. Jason is confident in his trade and the staff is polite. I bought the OEM parts online, and they installed them. The price was better than big brand name shops. A slight wipe down of the exterior before handing back the car would have made this 5 stars. Loaner car offered was helpful.

I was staying the weekend in Wheeling and had a breakdown Monday morning as I was heading back home to Minnesota. I found Rick's which was just down the street from our hotel. I talked to Jason and explained what I heard and made it over safely over to drop it off. He had cars up on the racks and said he would work hard to get to my truck quickly. He finished up the other jobs and got a diagnosis. He nailed down the problem to a bad wheel bearing hub and placed the parts order right away but delivery would take overnight. He made getting my repair done a priority the following morning and we were back on the road by noon. Knowledge. Expertise. Professionalism. Customer care. Yes, Jason worked on my car, but cared about who I was, my story at that moment, and my safety and well-being. I am mechanically adept and like to complete my own maintenance and repairs so I see the work being done. I visit the northern suburbs at different times throughout the year and Rick's and Jason are where I will go for anything automotive. Please be sure you consider their shop first. You will be as thankful as I am you did. TJH

I had my Honda in at Rick's today for a brake job. Jason let me know the best time to drop my car off for same day service. I got a call saying my rear brakes were just fine with plenty of material left, and my fronts had 2mm left. Swapped out the front pads and rotors and had my car back by 3pm. I felt Jason was up front and honest with me, and that the prices for service were better than fair. Thanks guys for such a pleasant experience!
