It’s clear his priority is doing right by his clients, and that level of self-sacrifice and care is rare in this industry.. And in my personal case- helped identify an issue and possibly saved my families safety with finding a hole in the engine. And I’m forever grateful. This is a shop that truly is a diamond for Lombard. We will be clients for decades to come and insist friends of ours go to J1.

In December, I brought my car to J1 Auto Repair for a calibration—something I’ve had done many times before. As soon as I drove off the lot, I noticed the vehicle wasn’t running as designed. Given that J1 was the only shop that had worked on my car, I was extremely frustrated. I returned to the shop heated and not thinking rationally. I needed to speak with the person in charge and, frankly, I handled the situation poorly. I wasn’t listening, I was emotional, and I even started recording—very much a “Karen” moment. I wasn’t mean, but I wasn’t reasonable either, and that’s on me. None of this rattled Jon, the manager. He remained calm, professional, and confident in his team. Rather than reacting defensively, he leaned into problem-solving. Jon took the time to explain what was happening, show me his diagnostic process, and walk me through the issue—not to prove he was right, but to resolve the problem. He personally worked on my car for over an hour, got it back to running properly, took me on a test drive, and then put it on a lift to physically show me the issue. He went above and beyond to fix something that neither he nor his team had caused. To find a mechanic—on a Friday night—who chooses patience, integrity, and true problem resolution over ego or argument is rare. By the end of it, we were laughing, smiling, and I think we even hugged. That experience speaks volumes—not just about Jon as a mechanic, but as a man and, most importantly, as a genuinely good human being. The same goes for his staff.
