Discount Tire

I recently acquired four Goodyear Endurance tires for my trailer (no longer using substandard Chinese tires with soft sidewalls and sway control challenges) and four BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires for my truck. I like visiting this shop because of its vast selection of tires at reasonable prices. Two individuals were assigned to replace the trailer tires, while four others were involved in changing my truck tires, and one dedicated person was responsible for ensuring the correct torque of the lug nuts. I received outstanding service; they matched the online tire prices, provided a discount for road hazard coverage, and offered a discount for one of my six-year-old KO2 tires, which had some minor cuts of unknown origin. This is why they identify themselves as Discount Tires. They rendered prompt and excellent service and executed everything according to my instructions. I felt exceptionally well treated. Not A Good Look I’ve been a long-time customer of Discount Tire and even have their credit card, but some experiences have left me reconsidering where I do business. I recently had my snow tires removed, and before doing so, an employee measured the tread using their smartphone-looking tool. The employee told me all four tires were too worn and should be replaced. He specifically confirmed they were below 4/32". That didn’t seem right to me given they had only been used for two seasons with rather limited driving. So I took the tires home and checked them myself with a tread gauge. As suspected, each tire measured between 6/32" and 8/32" (see photos), which is still very much usable. This is now the second time I’ve had a similar experience, which raises concerns. There are really only a few explanations: (1) the measurement process or equipment is inaccurate, (2) employees are trained to recommend replacement more aggressively than necessary, or (3) there is intentional upselling happening. None of those possibilities are reassuring. At a minimum, I would encourage others to ask for measurements to be shown in real time and to verify them independently if something doesn’t seem right. Based on this experience, I’m not confident relying solely on Discount Tire’s recommendations going forward.

I was a loyal customer of another tire shop for most of my life, but rising prices eventually pushed me to look elsewhere. Honestly, I expected that if I found better pricing, it would probably come with a drop in service. That hasn’t been the case at all with Discount Tire. Not only are their prices more affordable, but the level of service has matched—and in many cases exceeded—what I was used to. Every visit over the past few years has been consistently positive. The team is fast, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. The technicians in the shop work efficiently, and the front desk staff are always welcoming and helpful. Shelling out the money for a full set of tires is never something I look forward to, but I always leave feeling great about the purchase because of how well everything is handled. I also want to give a shoutout to Tyler at the State Street location. He’s helped me the last few times I’ve been in and has been incredibly helpful. He's a top notch example of the professionalism, knowledge, and friendly service that has turned me into a "Discount Tire guy". At this point, I don’t even shop around anymore. I know I’m going to get great pricing and excellent service here every time. Highly recommend.

Charged $21 per tire to change TPMs sensor that needed no programming. Did this despite me paying for free rotations and balance. They did this while doing the rotation only, no balance. Should be courtesy to 25+ year customer. It would have been in Colorado but Idaho doesn’t know anything about customer service. Manager was forced to call me but offered nothing but condescension. TPMS light never went off. They never programmed or made sure new sensor were working just bragged about how fast they got me out of there. Well yes, it doesn’t take much time to do not do what was asked. I purchased my own reset tool and reset the system myself. Do you think I’ll get compensation for my time to fix their poor work? Discount Tire has always been a good place to do business, just not in Idaho.

Really great experience, Matthew was super helpful. Had been shopping online, but everything i liked was discontinued or backordered (DT - please change your inventory system online...). Went in with a few options i liked, Matthew checked each for availability, found a complete set he had in store, and had them installed in less than 30 min. Awesome.
