Costco Tire Service Center

June 6th 2026, I had an appointment scheduled for their first appointment of the day to repair a puncture in my tire tread (not sidewall) which was visible after a simple inspection on my part. Since this is a service Costco includes with the sale of their tires, I thought this would be a pretty easy process. It took calling the store manager just to schedule this appointment after multiple failed attempts of calling the tire department which is no simple task. About 1/2 an hour into the appointment I get a call from their front desk clerk saying that there are multiple very large punctures near sidewall and can’t be repaired. I said I don’t think that is my tire, told her I inspected the screw puncture already and it should be really simple to repair. I asked to speak with manager about it. She put me on hold. In 5 minutes she came back to apologize and give me a new story, it wasn’t a puncture near the sidewall but that there were multiple punctures and they were close to each other so couldn’t repair. I doubted this claim after hearing dhe couldn’t keep her story straight and was not happy that they only gave me the option of replacing the tire which was special order so it couldn’t be replaced that day. I then asked to have them take pictures to show me when I returned to pick up my vehicle. When picking up she showed me a picture showing what she claimed were multiple punctures in different locations and one supposedly too close to another for repair. For proof all she had to show was a bad photo of my tire tread with some chalk circles and tiny tiny bubbles from soapy water. I said that doesn’t look like the kind of bubbles you get on a leak and that it didn’t look like anything. At this point I could tell they weren’t going to honor their service to repair all tires that they sell, and they were feeding me lies in order to get me to buy a new tire and come back some other day because this apparently was the kind of appointment they could easily dump off of their queue for a more important appointment. I was beyond frustrated with the service from this team and from the woman clerk who was generally rude and not concerned with making me happy at all. So I left their store and called on another mechanic shop a few miles away that agreed to take a look and attempt to repair my tire. Of course, I’d have to pay for it, not the free patch service that comes with buying tires from Costco which they proudly sell. After ten minutes of dropping my vehicle at next shop, the service man pulled me back to show me the screw and where that was leaking with soapy water and to show me the bubbles at the screw puncture and nowhere else near that spot. Then he put soapy water on the spots Costco mechanics circled on my tire where they claimed there were multiple leaks. Nothing, no bubbles from these locations. This mechanic then shared with me what I already suspected, Costco lied to you straight up and were trying to force you to buy a new tire. This kind of service should lead to people being fired and further action being taken against Costco, it is absolutely infuriating and intolerable. Just to make sure there didn’t happen to still be a leak on that tire, I decided to drive on it after the patch I had to pay for. And I’m happy to report that after 10 days this tire has held constant pressure without any drop or leak. So no multiple leaks and the single tiny screw puncture could be patched after all. Shame on this Costco tire location and the employees involved with this specific transaction. I’d like to say I’ll never get a puncture in these tires again but I’m almost certain I will. It just stinks that I don’t want to even make an attempt to ask Costco again to honor their tire sale agreement and fix it after what I experienced from this one, even though by all rights I should not have to pay for a very simple and easy repair like this according to the agreement we had. I don’t know how I could go back or send anyone else their way after being lied to like that and potentially scammed.

Just purchased another set of Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza P285-45R22 tires for my 2016 Chevy Suburban and decided to go through Costco Tires in West Des Moines. Ordered the tires online and had them installed less than a week later. Very efficient process with no hidden fees. No charge for installation and Costco even provides a 5-year road hazard warranty at no additional cost. My last set of Alenza H/L’s lasted 80,000 miles so hoping for similar results with these tires. Smooth ride with no road noise. They’re called H/L (Highway Luxury) for a reason and I can definitely see why.

Great experience, awesome price. Tires were on sale - staff was helpful and quick about finding the right tires. The service was better than expected. Tires were on before I got done shopping. I appreciate when things just work out smoothly like this. I recommend this tire place to friends and family.

We normally have great experiences with the Costco Tire Center. Yesterday was a bad enough experience that we are contemplating going somewhere else. Ashlynne, in the Tire Center, was beyond rude. The second we walked in she had an attitude. There was an issue on our end, but she treated us so poorly. When we asked to speak to a manager she would not go get one. She slammed a clipboard down and rudely asked for my signature. When it came time to pick up our car she slammed down the reciept and keys to the car and didn't say a word. Very disappointed with our tire experience from yesterday.

The receptionist was very rude and short when answering questions during my phone call today. I would recommend finding someone else to represent your business as a first point of contact for sale, she was not pleasant to engage with.
