GEARHEAD AUTO REPAIR

I am very unhappy. I brought my BMW to Gearhead for a simple oil change. I scheduled an appointment for 10am. When I arrived, I was told they would have me in and out. I walked up the street to Walmart, got nails done, and grabbed a smoothie at Smoothing King. It had been 2 hours by the time I headed back. When I arrived, my hood was still open and the two men were working on another car. They asked me to wait in lobby. I waited another 30 minutes and my hood was still up. Finally I advised them that I really needed to go. They disconnected a few things and closed hood. Came into lobby to tell me that the previous shop had stripped oil pan thread and that's why they took so long. Strangely enough I have been going to same place on several occasions and did not have any issues prior. It was stated that issue was resolved and oil changed. I paid $112 and left. I took my car to a dealership 2 days later to have my check engine light diagnosed since Gearhead was way to slow with a simple task. I dropped my car off and dealership gave me a ride home. When I arrived home I noticed a large oil stain on my driveway. As soon as I walked in my door, the dealership called me to tell me that I had an oil leak and asked if I recently had work done. I told dealership about my recent oil change at Gearhead. They advised that my oil pan thread had been stripped and they didn't feel comfortable going behind anyone else's work so as not to assume blame for the damage. I am fuming because Gearhead stripped my oil pan and tried to shift the blame. This explains why it took 3 hours for an oil change that should have taken 30 min max. If there was previous damage then why didn't Gearhead advise me of this issue prior to completing any work? The dealership has advised that I will need to either attempt to rethread the plug ($300) or since the pan is aluminum, if that doesn't work then a new pan would be $1200. Gearhead has cost me an additional $1200 when all I needed was an oil change. They were so kind when I arrived but now I feel scammed. If the messed up my car they should have done the honorable thing and told me and fixed it.

Thanks to their careful work, we learned the car had been in an undisclosed accident, which saved us from making a big mistake. We’re very grateful and highly recommend them!

Rico and Ty gave us a high quality pre-purchase inspection before purchasing our most recent SUV. They were very thorough and even walked us around the vehicle at each stage to show us what they had found. They did all this for a very reasonable price and we couldn't be happier.
