Precision Tune Auto Care

These guys are all incredibly kind, and straightforward about what NEEDS vs what CAN get done. They won’t talk down to you, it is very difficult to find mechanics who treat no question like a stupid one. I was there before they opened on a Saturday morning and they made sure to start working on my car as soon as possible. It was a brake pad replacement with an oil change thrown in so I was out of there around 11, pretty speedy for the amount of work they had cut out for them. But above all I cannot get over how seamlessly they validated my concerns. When he came out and told me it was just the brake pads and I told him it HAD to be worse than that, his immediate reaction was to say “let’s look at it together.” These fellas are all top notch.

Got my oil changed. It was a reasonable cost. I understand the business model. Precision tune is cheaper for oil changes than any other drive-through oil change outlet. They make it up by trying to convince you to get other services done. I was pressured into having a plastic juncture replaced. They said it was leaking. They said I needed to get it fixed ASAP. I went to touch the piece to check it out. They freaked out and told me not to touch it! I took it under advisement and left. I literally did not leave the parking lot without this piece of tubing “breaking.” I pulled into a parking lot and had it towed to my garage and they’re fixing it now. I’m not saying my car was sabotage. I’m just saying it’s awfully suspicious that the park gave away at that very moment.

Came to this location (Lawrenceville Hwy, Decatur) because my heat /ac wasn't working. Thankfully they took a look at it as I didn't have an appointment. Anyway, the shop mgr came back and said that it was my heat / control switch (panel). That was it. I inquired to verify. No other issues. So, he expounded that it needed replacing and because they couldn't order the part, only this time, they would allow for me to purchase it and bring it and they would Install it for $50. To assist, the shop manager printed a copy of the part off ebay for me to order. Ok. Great. I returned with the part soon. 1 hour later, to my great shock, disappointment and dismay, I was presented by this same shop mgr with a writen estimate that my Blower motor, Blower resistor and Blower connector was shot and needed replacement to the tune of approximately $600. Roughly $300 in parts, $300 in labor. HUH??!! I reminded the shop manager that he told me prior that all else had been ruled out, which he responded defensively that actually they couldn't get the ampage to check that out because my heat/ac control panel was blown. HUH??!! What are you talking about?? He didn't tell me that before. Actually he said at the time that the the good news was that it was just the control panel. So why act like the control panel was the only issue?? This guy said nothing about amps before. It was really shady. Gave off bait and switch vibes. Crappy tactic. Needless to say, I didn't like that and so I lost all trust in this shop for quality and integrity and had the control panel unplugged and took my business elsewhere to a shop I could to be fair in price, professional and informative. Update to follow.

Amazing job. Every one professional. From the front desk. To the mechanics. And the manager. James. Had the patience of Job .. I Highly recommend this location on Lawrenceville Highway.

Customer service….. over and beyond!!! I’ve been taking my cars here for the last couple of years and today, one of my cars isn’t there, it’s broken down in Tuscaloosa. James, the manager, called around to find the best place to take care of us. I would not hesitate to take your car here for service. They have always been clear and concise with work being done in a timely manner. Thank you James!
