This shop and the people running it have saved me 2 or 3 times with my old car. The other thing that matters in a shop owner or mechanic to me is. Are they a car person? Do they live cars as I do? Well this shop from office person to the guy that sweps the floor are car people. And that's a plus to me. The last thing is. They know cars. I recommend this shop for your import over any other shops in the A. Believe me! I have been to most every shop in the A.

I had very high expectations of this repair shop. Perhaps because they are specialist with Hondas. I had my vehicle towed in because of transmission issues. I had oil and power steering leaks as well. I thought, if you take your vehicle to a specialist. They would specialize in resolving your issues and or giving you a Definite idea of what is wrong with your car. After being more than patient, and waiting two months for my vehicle I finally received it. My car definitely runs great! Regarding the transmission issue and oil leaks. However, one of my main concerns. Is the power steering leaking and now that I have it back home, after only having it for one day it is parked due to power steering fluid leaking from the rack. They suggested that it's perhaps just power steering leaks. From the hoses. This would be my biggest argument!! if you're taking your car to a Specialist there should have been a definite answer regarding the rack and pinion.. I called Avondale, to inform them of the issue and spoke with Sammy. I was supposed to get a call back. And as of today, it's been over a month and still no call. Once again highly disappointed! But I guess. Customer service isn't what it used to be either.

I've been using Avondale Independent for my cars since around 1990. They are family owned. I have 100% confidence that my car will be repaired with OEM parts and will be fixed right. They are Honda specialists, but they work on all makes and models. We take our Ford Ranger to them in addition to my Civic SI. They do good work. However, the level of communication can be pretty low at times. You may have to call many times to get through.

Brought my car for an alignment and left with a long lasting memory. Amazing work and professionalism amongst all the employees. Thank you so much Tyler for aligning my civic Ek and getting me ready to race again.

I’ve never been so disappointed in a mechanic. I’m a student and always prefer taking my cars to local mechanics instead of dealers. However, the mechanics at this shop misled me, quoted me $4k of work, and incorrectly told me that a $1k control arm replacement would fix the $80 problem I went in with. Get multiple opinions before going to them. I have a Honda Accord with 60k miles that was making screeching noises from the brakes. Asked them to take a look and they called me back 4 days later quoting me $4k to have all the struts redone. I’m no professional mechanic, but I’ve never seen a car needing to have its struts done under 100k. I asked them to double check and they also said the control arms needed to be done. I was skeptical about the struts, but had them do a control arm for me because they said it would slow down the strut aging and stop the screeching noise. I asked them three to four times over the phone whether the brakes were okay and if anything needed to be adjusted to stop the screeching — they said no, it’s probably just because a previous shop used low quality parts (I looked back at my records and the shop that last did my brakes used all OEM). I got the car back and the screeching remained. I called and asked what happened, and they told me that they would take a look at it the next day but need to make sure they didn’t do anything wrong during the control arm replacement before they would agree to find a solution to the noise. They said they would call me when they were ready, but never called. I don’t expect shops to ingratiate themselves, but an apology for the runaround or a ‘thanks for your patience’ was overdue at this point. This whole time, I had been doing my own research trying to figure out what could cause this sound. It turns out there was a safety bulletin put out for my car a few years ago showing that the screeching sound occurred when an epoxy got old on the assembly that held the brake calipers. TSBs are easy to find. A Honda specialist shop should know these like the back of their hands, or at least have the skill and foresight to look them up. I bought the epoxy from Honda for $20, took it to another local shop, did the replacement for $50. Sound gone. New shop also said there was no problem with the struts and the control arms looked fine. Recently took my car to another shop out of state for an oil change. They also said the struts and control arms were totally fine. It’s still appalling to me that I never received a call from them after everything that happened, and if I had gone to a different shop I wouldn’t have been scammed into wasting $1k on a $50 problem. Avoid avoid avoid.
