Marshall's Service Center

I have a Mustang with a few performance mods and custom tuning installed. Some shops get uneasy working on modified vehicles, but not Marshall's. The 4.6L motor developed a misfire after rinsing the dust off the motor with a garden hose, not a pressure washer. I hoped the misfire would go away after the motor dried out. I wasn't quite so lucky. There was no CEL, so my cheap OBD reader couldn't tell me anything. The blokes at Marshall's were able to locate the two misfiring cylinders, and they replaced the two corroded coil packs. I also had them swap in fresh spark plugs and a fuel filter. When I got the car back, the misfire was gone and the engine ran 95% better. Then I got to thinking - the car has over 100K miles and it is 27 years old. It has been meticulously maintained and cared for, but I wondered what would happen if I just went ahead and replaced the remaining six coil packs. I replaced them myself and I'm really glad I did. The motor runs great and is making more power than ever. The car has a 5-speed manual gearbox, and the shift lever doesn't move at all at idle. It's just smoooooth with lots of power. But with all that power, I can now tell that I need to replace the rear control arm bushings, or maybe upgrade the rear control arms altogether. It's all factory original back there, and torque destroys bushings. I haven't yet decided if Marshall's will do that work, or if I'll turf it out to The Mustang Shop in Mesa. I live close enough to Marshall's that I can walk home after dropping off my car, so I am loving the convenience. Our other cars are Hondas and an '04 Ranger truck, so they will also be going to Marshall's for repairs that I am unable or unwilling to perform myself. I do my own oil changes, tire rotations, brakes, etc. Previously, I had been a loyal customer of Whitey's Auto Service in Scottsdale for a couple decades, but when Scott Almhjell sold the biz, the new owner (Mark) showed little interested in performing actual diagnostic work when my old truck needed its ECM replaced. I also tried Sun Devil Auto at McDowell and Hayden. Bad move. Yes, they diagnosed and repaired my old truck's ECM problem, but they proved incompetent when the variable cylinder management system in my Honda Pilot began to fail.

I've been bringing my vehicles to Marshall's since we moved to The Valley in 2008. Most recently my Honda CRV in need of a new power steering pump, non-working window-washers and a recharge for my air conditioning. Same as every other time I was well cared for and that is the reason I continue to refer them to family & friends with complete confidence. What can I say, the technicians at Marshall's are the absolute FINEST! Excellent and timely communication (start to finish), full transparency, quality work, as well as their "over and above" customer service...that's what you can expect to receive as a Marshall's customer. As an out-of-towner, they were more than accommodating and communicative in servicing my vehicle. They were even kind enough to recommend Sun Valley Auto Glass to repair my dinged windshield. I've gone to Marshalls multiple times for car maintenance + fixes and I am always happy with the results. They call before they start any work and give you an estimate. My final bill has always been within $10-15 of estimate. Work is always done quickly and properly, I recommend them to all my friends

I’d be wary of what you’re being charged at this shop. My son brought his car in, a Ford Focus, a few weeks ago as it was having transmission issues and this is very close to home. He was told he needed a full transmission replacement and was given a quote of $9000. Shocked and stressed, we worked to seek additional quotes none of which came close to $9k and all but one also able to repair the transmission rather than fully replace. The car is older but has less than 40,000 miles on it so a full replacement was already off to us. The price and scope of work was so disproportionate it really made me wonder if someone tried to take advantage of a young adult who was on his own that day.
