Service Center - Gateway Chevrolet

Since moving out to Arizona, back in October of 2020, I started going to Gateway Chevrolet and have been happy. There is a young woman that greats you and does the initial setup when you get to the service door. My first tech was John and he was promoted to service manager and now I have Zach, his son, and he is just as knowledgeable and helpful in servicing my two vehicles. My GF brings her vehicles to Zach for service. Recommend them highly.

Just bought our car a couple weeks ago. Ask for a third key fob. They said no, we have to buy it. $300 for parts $250 for programming. Ridiculous! They also tried to charge us a shop fee of like $39, I asked what is this for, and they said for use of the equipment and their rags. Bs! They never told us about this stupid excessive shop charge which should be part of the service on an overly expensive key fob that we should have gotten included with our car. Got the runaround for quite a while from the girl at the desk and for Matthew. But Matthew finally took off the shop charge! Very unhappy and very doubtful we'll have any service there ever again. Also the key cover fell off somehow and the shop said we had to pay for it and the install, and another shop charge again!? Are they crazy! We just bought a car and parts should not be just falling off. This place sucks! We will go to a different dealership if we need to. And I will tell everybody I know about it!

I than happy with the service every time I go in. Only issue I have is mess communication with sales team and service team. When I purchased 2 Chevy 1500 within a month of each other. I was told by sales I would have first 4 services free. When I take the truck in for first service they say only 1. So pretty disappointing since each basic service is about $190 each. But my fault I guess for not double checking.

I received an OnStar service alert for my vehicle stating it was an Engine and Transmission issue and that I needed to take it in as soon as possible. I made an appointment for 1/09/26 at 7:45am. I called on 1/08/26 to see if I can drop it off the evening before and was given the thumbs up. I drove 1 hour and 5 minutes from my work in Chandler to Avondale at 515pm to drop off my vehicle. I was then told that my vehicle would not be looked at until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. How would that even work? I asked about a loaner car since it would be that long of a wait. I was turned down because they only do loaners when it is a warranty claim. Caveat is they cannot confirm it is under warranty until the diagnose it. Again, I would be without a vehicle until that time. I was also informed that I would have to pay $218 for the diagnoses and it will be covered if it was under warranty. So to recap: 1. I made an appointment for 745am 1/09. 2. Car will not be looked at until 1/13 or 1/14. 3. They would not give me a loaner car until they diagnose it. 4. I am charged even though I pay good money for my warranties! Needless to say, I cried on my way home. Not only did I drive all that way after work, I inconvenienced my daughter to do the same to pick me up. I pay good money for the extended warranties, but I am stuck without a car for that long and do not want to risk my warranty not covering the repair so I left with my car and with the check engine light on. The only way to change this 1 star to anything higher is: 1. You come and bring me a loaner and take my vehicle back, or 2. You give me back all the money I paid for a warranty I did not ever use because service makes it impossible for me to use. I will report this to the leadership team as well.

I take full ownership of bringing my outside life’s problems into the dealership with me . I did get Curt with the first person that was trying to help me Max Sapins and dropped the F bomb. I did apologize to him as well as all humans in ear shot distance. With that being said as far as the Service consultant Zach Sheldon is concerned totally different subject. Even after apologizing he continued with an attitude and was less than customer service or help. I asked for a manager he said if I wanted one to get one myself . He then leaned into me nudged me out of the door of his little office area and closed the door in my face. That’s all good been treated worse by people more important than him. Once the manager did come out it was discovered Zach was his son. This explains quite a bit from his attitude with customers and his better than yourself attitude. Huge reason why nepotism should not be tolerated or allowed in a workplace. I mean really a father over a son ? If it were a family business possibly. But the way little Zach acts towards people you can see why his father is his boss. The way I was treated was unacceptable and not that I’m looking for an apology but just know I have two more oil changes in my contract after that I will not come back with any of my vehicles that I own and bought from Gateway. Which are many ask Donald Cummings he has sold me quite a few . As have salesmen under him . If it were another day and different location Zach wouldn’t of faired well with his attitude and body language and just plan arrogance is unacceptable. His father has let his son’s behavior reflect Ken Garff Gateway Chevrolet very poorly and I am seriously considering taking my car purchasing else where after many years of buying cars from Joe Gambino family. I have never been treated this way . I have had numerous friends and family come to and purchase vehicles from gateway again Don Cummings can attest to that . Again I apologized for my actions and behavior Zach kept throwing gas in a fire with his under the breath comments and looks . Have a good day be blessed
