Ripley's Total Car Care - Spring

My experience here was excellent! Drew was very helpful and explained everything to me. He explained the price breakdown, recommendation, and gave advice on how to keep my car healthy. My car needed quite a few things done and it was almost closing time, but they managed to get my car fixed the same day. Very professional and nice staff I will continue to bring my car here.

Recently moved to the area and my wife's mustang began making a louder than normal noise. As a mechanic in my past, I knew what I was told tge issue was was accurate. They did a fantastic job. Friendly, informative, timely at a very reasonable price. They are a quality honest shop. Women, I know sometimes you feel sliced in auto repair situations. This establishment treats all with honesty, decency and respect with quality work using only OEM parts. They have my business as long as I live in the area!

The ULTIMATE in care - people and their cars. They always provide an honest assessment of the condition of my car and offer the solutions in order of priority. They also make me aware of the things to keep in mind for future repairs and the reasoning for them. I am not knowledgeable of car repair, so to find a company that is honest and provides superior service is a company I recommend to everyone. All of the folks I have met, from Mr. Ripley to Drew, Sean and Mark are focused and very kind. Even if I moved to a different part of Houston, I would drive through the traffic to bring my car to their shop. (I think that about says it all right there. LOL) Thank you to the ultimate fixer guys!

I recently lowered the rear of my 2008 tundra with a flip kit and air springs which resulted in my dual exhaust having to be re-routed. Ridley’s did a great job of customizing the fit with limited space in less than 3 hours and for a fair price as quoted. They allowed me to thoroughly discuss the routing options with the exhaust technician back in the garage where we could see exactly what the space looked like. I was very pleased with the final result and the attention to detail.

Update: I received a phone call from the owner (David) in response to my initial review. He was very genuine, concerned, apologetic (about both of the bad experiences) and offered a significant discount on the repairs that are still needed (but not for the repairs they misdiagnosed and performed). Though I’m not willing to invest any more than I already have into repairs at this time, I can see they still have SOME? commitment to customer service. I am disappointed that the brakes and rotors were replaced in spite of my demand to not install until they were SURE the car was fixed, as I wouldn’t have invested in new brakes and rotors for a car that is not even drivable. It’s really disheartening honestly. This was my whole families “go to mechanic” because we truly trusted them. We’ve referred EVERYONE we know that has had car problems here for almost 20 years. I don’t think I or the rest of my family will return. And I personally cannot with sound mind recommend Ripley’s to others anymore either. I have updated my review to 3 stars in response to David’s call and in consideration of the cumulative experience those I have referred here that did have a good experience. Initial review: I DO NOT TRUST THEM anymore. Dropped my son‘s car off here because it was overheating and getting exhaust fumes in the car. They told me I needed a water pump, thermostat, water outlet, brakes, and rotors, some vacuum seal, spark plugs, coolant flush, oil change, oil leak fixed… I purchased $500 worth of parts and spent another $3100 in parts and labor for other repairs they said it needed. $3600 later the car is still overheating and exhaust fumes are still getting in the car. Now they’re saying it’s going to be another $3300 to replace a head gasket, which was apparently the issue all along. My family has been using Ripley‘s Total Car Care since 2007. I referred by my mother-in-law here several years ago for a catalytic converter replacement. A year later, the catalytic converter had to be replaced again. Ripley‘s says they offer a three-year warranty on any jobs they provide the parts and labor for. They did not honor that 3 year warranty when it failed a year later.
