During an unexpected heavy rainstorm, my front left tire slipped off the road and got stuck. I called the police for emergency assistance. About 10 minutes later, a La Porte police officer arrived, but they didn’t have any equipment to help. Instead, the officer suggested I call their partner towing company, Charlie/Priority, and told me it was a simple case—just pull the front left tire out—and that it should cost around $50–$100. Relieved, I waited in the pouring rain, believing help was on the way. After waiting nearly 40 minutes, an extremely angry tow truck driver finally arrived. Instead of helping, he questioned my judgment and even called me “crazy” for getting stuck in the storm. After speaking with the company dispatcher, Jean, he quoted me an outrageous $350. I even helped release the winch cable and assisted with the recovery. I don’t know if it was because he saw my tire sinking deeper into the mud while he spent about 10 minutes parked on the roadside discussing what to charge, but the actual recovery took less than 10 minutes and moved my vehicle only about 10 feet onto the grass—yet I was charged $350, as if I was being punished simply because it was raining. I tried twice to ask the police for help, but they said there was nothing they could do. In the end, under the watch of both the police officer and the tow truck driver, I felt I had no choice but to send the Zelle payment. By then, we were completely soaked. Our boots were filled with water. I even pleaded for a lower price, but all I got was a cold response: “It’s company policy.” An hour later, exhausted both physically and emotionally, I still felt as though I had been robbed. I contacted several other towing companies afterward, and they all told me they could have arrived within 20–30 minutes, completed the same recovery just as quickly, and charged only $120–$200. I honestly don’t know what else I could have done. This was the worst two hours I’ve ever experienced. I won’t use any company’s service if they are lower 4* , should ask and check the company’s review when officer is recommended.

Potential customers should be aware that my interaction with this company raised concerns even though they were not the company that ultimately performed the tow. During the original dispute, we were told by the driver that management was responsible for pricing. When we later spoke with management, we were told that the driver sets the price. The explanations were inconsistent and no one seemed willing to take responsibility for the charge. What concerned us was that the person answering for this company was able to discuss details related to the original tow and pricing dispute, leading us to believe there is some connection between the businesses. Most other towing companies we contacted afterward quoted less than half of what we paid for a similar recovery. I encourage anyone needing a tow to obtain a firm quote in advance and compare prices before authorizing service whenever possible.

My friend told me today about a terrible experience she had with this towing company. She and her husband had gone to their property in La Porte to do some maintenance. When it unexpectedly started raining, their car happened to be in a low spot they weren’t aware of. When the rain continued they tried to move the car but it was stuck. Since it looked like the car might flood, they called for help from the local police, and the police called this company, which apparently they have as one of their main towing contractors. Their experience was that the driver was unprofessional, and the policeman didn’t seem to do anything to help other than call the towing company and sit there watching in his car. After all the difficulties they had with the towing driver, he overcharged them drastically for the service ($350 for 10 minutes work to pull the car 10-20 feet). Seems insane!!! So I came to check this company’s reviews and found that not only are they horrible in terms of customer service, but others have had what looked to be illegal actions taken by this company with their cars. From the lady who had her car towed from being on the side of the road and then apparently not being released to her as it should’ve been, to the lady who had her iPhone and other belongings taken from her trunk, to the grandparent whose car was towed from the high school graduation, all of these look like criminal activities to me if they happened. Why in the world is a La Porte police department working with this company? They should be investigating them! Someone should bring this up with the city of La Porte mayor or police chief and have it looked into! !!!!!!

Crooks. Friend of mine's car broke down on the side of the road, the city did not give her even two days to come and claim her vehicle, this towing company impounded it. Their goal was to keep the car so they can auction it, rather than help a single mother with three kids get her vehicle back. The secretary is very rude. And they're not willing to work with you on trying to get your vehicle back at all.

I was in trouble and in need of a tow truck. They arrived quickly and came up with a game plan and got the job done. The driver was knowledgeable professional and just a good guy. I'd recommend Priority Towing to anyone in need of a tow or towing services.
