Leonard’s Automotive in La Porte, Texas is one of those shops you feel good about walking into. The team is honest, straightforward, and they really take the time to explain what’s going on with your vehicle without trying to upsell you on things you don’t need. The work is solid, turnaround time is fair, and you can tell they actually care about doing the job right the first time. What I also like is that they work with EasyPay Finance, which makes it a lot easier if you’re not ready to pay everything upfront. They’re cool about it and help walk you through the options. It’s nice knowing you can get your car fixed and not stress about the full payment all at once. Overall, great customer service, reliable repairs, and just good people to deal with. Definitely recommend Leonard’s Automotive if you’re in the La Porte area.

CUSTOMER BEWARE!! They threw the safety seal to new oil bottles in my engine compartment. Then they put the wrong differential fluid in my rearend!! Go to Blackbear Automotive if you want local quality care.

I've been going to Leonard's for over a decade. It's not easy finding mechanics that do quality work and who are trustworthy. My uncle went to a mechanic close to him and they said he needed major engine repairs that would've cost thousands. I told him to bring it to Leonard's for a second opinion. Problem......cracked spark plug. Fixed the same day. They could've said anything but they were honest and fair. Big shout out to Leonard's!

I initially liked coming here about a year or two ago for light repairs and general maintenance such as oil or other fluid changes. Though, after having the wrong differential fluid put in my vehicle and causing a scare of noises making me think my diff was going out (I ended up having to go to another place to get the right fluid - diff now works like a charm), oil/shop grease being smeared on my steering wheel, the seat, and/or the exterior of my vehicle every other time, the foil seal of an oil bottle being left on the top of my engine, and my partner (I recommended they go here) having their plastic engine cover (that snaps on) left in the bed of their truck and not attached properly, I do not recommend this place any more. Hopefully they can get better training soon. These are basic fixes that require minimal attention to detail. It’s nice having a place that’s local and convenient, as I also like supporting local business and helping spread the word to grow a good business. Though, this place is surely not the one to give you 100% peace of mind.

I work for a company. We use a fleet account and have many trucks. The first truck I picked up had the oil change required light on. The second truck had the check engine light on when I picked it up. Was later told when I took it back it was just the gas cap but turned out to be the Cadillac converter; though I had to ask, they did not offer any info to me nor my boss. The third truck got a new stereo installed and when picked up and drove off the stereo had no antenna, zero stations came in. Again they didn’t offer this information. The fourth truck was dropped off for the breaks squealing. It left 3 days later with the breaks still squealing and they did not offer any info that they did not change the pads. My boss had to look at the invoice to see that they kept the truck 3 days and mention they did not change the pads due to they had 40% life left; but still squealing. No truck in my opinion should leave a mechanic shop without talking over with the person bringing it there what is wrong and offering them a chance to have it fixed. My boss had no clue each time his trucks were leaving in these conditions. Not to mention the time I’ve charged my company for the travel and time of taking the trucks, nor the money my company lost unable to cover jobs because we had no truck available because it was in the shop them days. No truck should leave a mechanic shop to have to go back again for a problem that should have been fixed. Not without talking to the person who brings them in and giving a chance to resolve what is still needing fixed. Who installs a stereo without installing an antenna? That says enough in my opinion to find a place with better customer service.
