Tires By Design- Houston

Been coming to Tires By Design (this location) for years! However, this experience was less than what is expected from such a defined business. I brought my vehicle with aftermarket wheels, to install 4 new tires. And to switch out two sensors. Tires were great and the service was done fast and friendly. That part of the whole experience was great and that receives 5 stars. However, the whole experience, was less than pleasant. I was told one of my wheels was bent, I told them it was just the lip, the wheel was fine. When I left, my car was shaking at 40 mph, and at 60 it was losing control. I called the shop back, and Reed told me that he figured I would get vibration pretty bad because my wheel was bent. I told him, it wasn’t like that when I arrived. They kept two of my sensors that they changed out. I couldn’t come back because I had to go to work. The next morning, I said I would return but decided that, if they figured I would get vibration pretty bad why would they not tell me? Why would they not put the old sensors in my car? Just kind of shady , so I decided to end my business with them right there. I went to Discount Tire. They immediately found the problem. Front tires had one tire with 3oz of weight, and the rear tires, one had 5.5 oz weights, and one had 4oz of weights!!! The balancing was done extremely wrong! This is completely unacceptable. I Paid $60 at Discount Tire, for something that I will be paying $700 for at Tires By Design! I expect, my sensors back, and a refund of the $60 for something that should have been done, the first time. Edit and reply: 4/14/25 I see what you are trying to do, and it’s not gonna work in your favor. First, I was told it was one bent wheel, and the wheel is not bent just the lip (but that’s hearsay) I actually have two bent lips. And I did say I don’t go slow over bumps, that was after the fact, not during install that was said when checking out ( again that’s hearsay) Technician never said they “would try their best “ that’s a complete lie. I did get two sensors replaced, which is one screw each, not a huge deal, and I stated right away I wanted to keep them. I was not told of the possible vibration until I called to complain. I called not even 5 minutes after I left. And Reid said, “ yeah I figured you would get some vibration cause we had to put a lot of weights one of the wheels.” Not all just one he said. I worked at PepBoys for years, and I know the process of balancing tires. You say the tires were balanced correctly the first time, there was only one time, and it was done INCORRECTLY. As per my pictures, over 4oz of weights is not correctly. That’s where you are wrong, way wrong. And if you think that’s correct, then I’ll be forced to ensure that I go further with this complaint than a simple google review. As that is unsafe, and negligent. If I was any ignorant driver, that would have been a recipe for disaster. As my car shook uncontrollably at 60mph. If weights were thrown out, it was because it was done incorrectly and the vibration caused them to get thrown. As I called less than 5 minutes after leaving, and took pictures of it. Stop trying to be emphatic, I don’t care for it. The reason I did not come back, was because what your location and team did is completely unacceptable and unsafe, and you are attempting to blame me for your incompetence. It’s not a claim of what I paid, I specifically said what I will pay, through financing. It’s a simple fact, I can post receipts if you’d like. I didn’t say it was the same, that’s an ignorant statement. I said, I paid an extra $60 at discount tire, for something I will be paying more than $700 at tires by design that should have been done correctly, the first time. I will be there Friday morning when you open. Again, I expect a refund of the $60, and my sensors. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me you have my number.

Very happy with this place and would come back! I worked with Alfonzo Martinez and he was extremely nice from when I first called - to when I picked up my car. He was a pleasure to deal with the whole time. I had some curb rash on one of my rims. They were able to get it fixed and I can’t tell the rash was ever there. Alfonso was very honest about the time and it did take 1 day. I am very happy with the service and the company.

Been going here for years. Always a 5 star experience everytime. Great customer service goes a long way with these guys and that's why I stay going back. Zack and the other two guys that helped me out this morning deserve a raise!!! Don't believe the one star ratings I see on here, those people were prolly just having a bad day. Thanks again guys!!!

This place is by far the best tire shop in the area! They are super nice and take care of you fast. Been coming here for years and we are always satisfied with the service! You guys have a great team and knowledgeable staff! Thank you again!!

This was a nice place. The guys working here were quick, efficient and very courteous. The place was clean. Zach & his partners were very knowledgeable about the services they provide. This was the best tire shop that I have ever experienced. Would recommend this shop. 5 stars 🌟
