Carter’s Transmission & Auto Repair

Brought my Toyota Tundra truck into this shop and they told me all I needed done was a valve body replacement. I told the shop the truck is older and if it needed both a valve body and transmission I wouldn't want to do the repairs I'd just get rid of it because of the cost for both being as much as the truck was worth. He said the transmission was fine because there was no metal in the pan so I just had them repair the valve body. A month later my truck wouldn't go in reverse or would but slowly and would barely move. I brought it back up there and now they tell me I now need a whole new transmission. I then call the owner Mike after speaking to Brandon about all that was said prior. He tells me he's going to figure it out and call me back. I never get a call back. I just get a text stating my truck is ready to be picked up and no charge. I am now thankful for his service thinking it's repaired and ready to go. Fast forward to my wife picking it up and now the trucks clutch is getting stuck when it tries to shift. My wife asks them if we should get rid of the truck and they say yes. After hearing this from my wife I tried calling Mike to get some clarification on what was meant when he told my wife to get rid of it. At this point he wouldn't answer my phone calls or return my calls. I can't tell if this guy isn't honest or if they just don't have any clue what they are doing. Either way not returning phone calls is unprofessional and shady so that tells me something was definitely up. After speaking to another transmission shop I find out on Toyota trucks having not metal in the pan isn't indicative of not needing a new transmission. So the truck probably needed both from the start. I now have oil leaking from the truck after the so called repair they made and the clutch is sticking with what seems like even more issues. Conclusion, I wouldn't recommend taking your vehicle to this shop. They are either dishonest or have no clue what they are doing.

I have the worst anxiety about getting my vehicle worked on. Few years ago a mechanic put a sticker over my check engine light because he couldn't figure out what was wrong. I rarely feel comfortable leaving my vehicle with anyone. However Mike and Gus have helped me find a new home for my Tahoe. They helped fixed my radiator, and brakes that were run down to the caliper for a hell of a price, I priced around and no ones price compared nor their customer service, just to even call and get a price was very off-putting however, they were super kind and gave me exactly what I needed to know over the phone that made me feel safe to come here. Fast forward my gear shifter broke loose I brought it in and they fixed it immediately on the house. I prefer mom and pops shops to make you feel like home and that's exactly what you get here. If you need to find a new home for your auto work, look no further! Fast and effective, with no extra up-sales or bs! Hard and honest work, and Mimi is the best!

I took my Range Rover to 3 shops before Carter's was recommended to me. The three shops just gave me a total rebuild cost. Brandon, Gus, and the rest of the team listened to what my experience was, actually examined the transmission and found the problem at 1/3 the price of the other shops. They fixed my truck and had it back to me in 25 hours. I can not recommend them highly enough.
