Armando's Standard Transmissions

I dropped my truck off on a Saturday and picked it up a week later. About 20 minutes after leaving it started making a terrible noise. I pulled over to check it out, and my driveshaft had swung over into my fuel tank (due to the improper install of my carrier bearing bolts) and was eating a hole into it because it has not been fully bolted down. Only one bolt was still holding on and all of the other bolts were gone. They paid to have it towed back, had the driveshaft and fuel tank looked it, and patched the fuel tank even though it was not leaking. I was disappointed that they would not replace the fuel tank since I expected the truck to be in the same condition as I dropped it off, not patched up. The person I'd been dealing with, who I can only assume was the shop manager, agreed to pay to have it towed back to my home as I lived an hour away. The day it was supposed to be towed back, the owner, Armando, called me and refused to pay to have it towed, said I could pick it up, or he would be driving it back himself because he didn't want to LOSE MONEY. I'd already been promised it would be delivered back to me since this issue was not my fault, and I did not necessarily have the availability to take off work, but I did not feel comfortable with a stranger driving my truck back to my home over an hour away and take the chance of being held responsible in the event of something happening. My wife and I both had to take off work early and drive all the way back to Houston to pick it up on top of being without my truck for almost a full 2 weeks. The transmission seems to be running great, and they "made it right", but I still feel it could have been handled better. I would have given 3 or 4 stars if the truck would have been towed back to my house without question.

Excellent service from start to finish. The team was honest, knowledgeable, and kept me informed throughout the transmission repair process. My vehicle is shifting smoothly again, and the work was completed on time at a fair price. I highly recommend this shop to anyone needing transmission repairs. Thanks for the great work!

Man first time trying these guys out and when I tell you they got it down they really got it down I was talking with the owns brother I think really solid guy he kept me updated and even sent me pics of the progress. These guys have quick turnaround times and I’d definitely recommend to the next person

Called Armando for certain parts for Zf6 transmission. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I will continue to recommend him to others for zf transmissions. Also the negative reviews on here, don’t come from “reasonable” customers. They come from the customer is always right mentality. He is good at standard transmissions and you can’t find many good standard transmission builders in Houston.

BUYER BEWARE....At the time I thought it was a great price for the work. But you get what you paid for. Went in to rebuild the transmission in my Camaro and replaced a pinion seal in my rear end. Mind you my rear end was not the issue when I took it to them. It had a slight vibration in the rear. I asked them to look at it. They said it was a bad seal and replaced. For a shop that does not work on rear ends sure did TRY to fix mine. To replace that seal you have to tighten the nut in which Armando's shop did in fact do. I took it back to Armando's before the warranty was out and they said it was my rear pinion seal which they replaced twice on different visits. They said they could not help me. (Which I appreciate )Took my car to another shop and my entire rear end was burned out because of POOR REPAIR work at this shop. The nut that secures the pinion seal was too tight and the bearing welded onto another piece. Will not be going back and stay away. The shop I took it to said he has fixed a lot of Armondos TRANSMISSION failures not differentials. On a side note my reverse gear is still not fixed. Slips out of gear when backing up. If you want to keep spreading money and not get your car fixed go here. BUYER BEWARE. Stay away...
