Ray's Affordable Auto Repair

Wanted to save myself a weekend of work, and Rich and Ray quoted me $1200 for spark plugs and engine coils. They did the work and the next day it started misfiring regularly. I took it back 3 different times and they said they couldn't find a problem - "it's an old engine", and I should try Lucas oil additives (even though it would misfire every few seconds); I took a closer look and found out that they DID NOT change any engine coils, and I discovered that the Cylinder 2 spark plug was loose. They apologized and offered to change the remaining 3 coils, but I would have to pay for the new coils (that I'd already paid for). I decided to wait and see if they were correct that I didn't need to change the remaining coils. A few months passed, and the engine began misfiring again. They confirmed it was the coils (and wire connectors) that they didn't replace the first time. They said that since I'd continued driving it 5000 miles, they wouldn't cover parts or labor. So I again paid $500 to replace the remaining 3 coils. Next day, it's misfiring again!! This time I found a huge evap leak in the wires. Apparently it had cracked, and rather than replace it or mention it, they cut the tube and reconnected it, and it re-cracked. I replaced the tube myself for $3. I wanted to save myself a weekend of work, and ended up with 5 weeks at the shop over the course of several months and spent $2200 in parts, labor, and trouble-shooting, and I did over 50% of the repairs myself.

Don't leave many reviews, but this one's worth the time. I've tried a lot of various mechanic shops in the Justin, Argyle, and Roanoke area, and been repeatedly disappointed. I tried Ray's shop a couple years back after another shop, that I thought was good at the time, repeatedly failed to fix an issue. Ray's correctly diagnosed and fixed my issue, and now I take all my vehicles to Rays whenever possible. I say whenever possible, because one situation stands out. Went on vacation down to southeast Texas, and brakes started heating up. Since I was out of town, I had to take my vehicle to some random shop, that I don't ordinarily use. This random business, who I shall not name, changed the calipers and brake pads, replaced the brake fluid and sent me on my way. Got back home and brakes started heating up again. Took it to Ray's and they correctly diagnosed a collapsed brake hose. That was just one example, but all the outcomes have been the same with the vehicles I take to Ray's. As an added bonus, it's fun to hang out and chat with the team. Not sure what you look for in a shop, but I look for honesty, value, and dependability. I don't want cheap, quick, halfway work. I want to get it done right the first time. I want to get what I paid for. I just want it fixed. Ray's has consistently delivered.

I’m sure on many cars Ray is fantastic, not so much on an all wheel drive turbo car. Literally tore it down and now have to have it towed to another shop to get it repaired. Wouldn’t be a big deal if he didn’t charge me $1000 to get key my back!! Terrible life choice!!

I've been going to Ray's exclusively for many years. With many vehicles. Ray and Richard have always done honest top notch work. That i believe are at honest prices. .. They are the real deal. They know what they are talking about.. ..so I highly recommend ""Ray's Affordable""

We've taken a few different vehicles to Ray's over the years. Honest, quality work at reasonable prices. If that light is on or you simply have a repair that's needed, have Ray's check it out and you'll thank me later.
