First, I can only share my family’s experience. Based on what we experienced, I would strongly encourage anyone considering a restoration project to get every promise in writing, document every change, and inspect the work very carefully before making final payment. This review is difficult for me to write because my father, Ron Mills Sr., passed away shortly after finally getting his truck back. One of the most serious issues involved the brakes. The truck had been converted to front disc brakes, but a simple proportioning valve that my father had specifically told Frank was needed was never installed. As a result, the brakes would lock up, making the truck unsafe to drive. My father was also promised a new front end as part of the project, but that work was never completed. My dad was a Vietnam-era veteran, a lifelong mechanic, and had owned his 1955 Chevy pickup since around 1970. Because of age and service-connected disabilities, he could no longer do a complete restoration himself and trusted Frank’s Speed Shop with a truck that meant the world to him. Since getting it back, he kept the truck in the garage and only drove it once—the trip home from the shop—because of the ongoing issues and concerns about its condition. The truck was at the shop for nearly two years. During that time, my dad visited many times and was repeatedly told to trust the process and that everything would be done right. He was originally told the project would include major front-end upgrades and was discussed around a $30,000-$35,000 budget. In the end, he paid approximately $39,534.22. My father had already purchased wheels and new tires for the truck, but they were removed by Frank and were not returned as expected. Wheels and tires my father wanted on the truck were replaced with used wheels and tires that were scratched and worn. Unfortunately, after finally getting the truck back, numerous problems became apparent. The brakes were unsafe, the hood would not operate properly, paint was incomplete in some areas, gauges were unreliable, and other workmanship issues remained unresolved. My dad ultimately had to take the matter to small claims court, where mediation resulted in money being returned to him. He had been fighting with Frank over these issues from the time he got the truck back and went to small claims court just a week before his passing. My father passed away at the end of May 2026, making the entire situation even more heartbreaking for our family. After dropping the truck off in December 2023 and finally getting it back in October 2025, my father’s passing, the truck was left to me. As I have continued inspecting it, I have discovered additional issues. The windshield wiper arms came off while driving in light rain. Transmission cooler lines are leaking. Paint is already peeling and chipping in places even on the interior paint. What hurts the most is not the money. It is that my father waited nearly two years to enjoy a truck he had owned and loved for more than 50 years. He finally got it back, was disappointed with the condition, and passed away shortly afterward. He never got the chance to enjoy the truck the way he had hoped.

To say we are Extremely Disappointed is an understatement! This is written for my Dad, Ron Mills Sr., a Vietnam-era veteran and lifelong mechanic. I trusted Frank’s Speed Shop with my 1955 Chevy pickup that I’ve owned since about 1970 because I can no longer do major work myself due to age and service-related disability. I was originally told the project would be around $30k–$35k and include a new Mustang II front suspension. The truck stayed at the shop for nearly two years, with repeated promises it would be done “by the end of the month.” In the end I paid $39,534.22. When I got the truck back, the promised front-end work was not completed as discussed, my wheels and tires had been sold without my permission, and there were numerous problems: unsafe braking that nearly causes the truck to spin, loose front-end movement, hood misalignment that prevents it from opening properly, unfinished paint areas, bolts falling out under the dash, squealing belts, and other mechanical concerns. I even warned them the truck needed a proportioning valve for the brakes and was told to “trust the process,” but the braking issues remain. This truck has been part of my life for over 50 years, and this experience has been extremely disappointing both financially and emotionally. I hope this review helps others ask detailed questions and get everything in writing before committing to a restoration project.

I had a disappointing experience at this car shop. They received my car running and my car still doesn’t run till this day due to their job done. I spent over 5,000 dollars with these guys and tried my best to be patient with them. Now they don’t answer my calls. The customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. My vehicle was in for routine maintenance work primarily, and they took much longer than promised without any updates. When I finally received my car, it didn’t feel like the work had been done properly; which later I investigated by going to a trusted mechanic and was correct. There were still issues that I had specifically mentioned. Overall, I left feeling taken advantage of frustrated and will not be returning ever and you should do the same. (Paid over 5k and I have proof of things they charged me for which were never done.)

I had 3 major issues that I couldn't solve and was very frustrated. Major oil leak which I could not find, hard contact with crossmember to oil pan, and front end alignment after I replaced all front end suspension components, Franks guys did a great job of solving all 3 of these issues that have bothered me for a long time.Great job guys...I will be back

Take your money and business elsewhere. Dishonest and misleading. Will tell you “trust the process”, but their process is to overcharge, do poor work, and lie about it all. Seriously, choose any other option before coming here.
