Battery Keeps Dying

If you keep needing a jump start, the problem is almost never just the battery — something is either draining it while the car is off or failing to charge it while running.

Should you keep driving?

You can usually still drive after a jump, but a repeated dead battery can leave you stranded. Get it diagnosed before it strands you.

Common causes

Old or failing batteryMost batteries last 3–5 years. Heat and short trips shorten that.
Parasitic drainA stuck relay, glovebox light, or aftermarket accessory can pull power all night.
Failing alternatorIf it does not recharge the battery while driving, you start each trip with less.
Loose or corroded terminalsBad connections stop the battery from charging or holding a load.
