We went to Sokrat’s O&M automotive llc for 5 years, and we never will again. We are now going out of our way to find mechanics further away because unfortunately, some local mechanics use sokrat to do their work when their business is overloaded. That is how I came to meet him, being pushed off by another mechanic that was busy. He built a trusting relationship with us and seemed very knowledgeable. Once he gained that trust, he took advantage of us, and left me in a dangerous situation. First, shorty after our yearly inspection, I was on the turnpike when I felt like my wheel was about to come off. I’ve never been so scared in a vehicle in my life. I took it to a shop right off the exit and they said that the wheel was in fact loose and about to fall off if I hadn’t stopped. We let sokrat know, and he took no responsibility for putting my life and potentially others in Danger. He insinuated that it was my fault, when I know for sure that I didn’t do anything that would have caused the wheel to be loose. Then, we brought him a Kia sorrento that we purchased from family. He told us it was a solid car, and gave it an inspection sticker. We did about $2,000 in work on that car, which we figured was regular maintence. At our very next inspection, sokrat told me that the car was completely rusted and rotten, and that we should get rid of it. Because other local mechanics trusted him, and he worked on my business for 5 years, I believed what he said, but I started to feel uneasy. He then told me that he would “help” me by taking the worthless car off my hand for $500. Stupidly, that I went right down to his shop and handed him the title. Over a month later, I get a parking ticket in the mail for the car I sold him. When I called him, he acted completely surprised and outraged- very performative. I then came to learn that he sold my car to the chop shop across the street, and he let them ride around with my license plate- doing God knows what- for that long. When I confronted him, he took the plate and car back to his lot and snapped a photo to “prove” to me that he took it seriously and was not letting my car be driven without a proper title transfer. I was suspicious, so I went down to see and he has already moved it back across the street to the chop shop. I had to literally stand in the chop shop and refuse to leave and make them go to a notary to do the title transfer. Sokrat aggressively got into my husbands face when all we wanted was a reasonable explanation. Once I learned that the car he told me was undrivable was In fact being driven all over town, I knew I had been played. I asked him directly to sell me the car back, and he refused and had already made a profit on it. I confronted him to his face, and told him that we only got rid of that car (which we really needed) because he told us it was rotten and we trusted him. He told me to “come back when I’m ready to be a nice guy” and completely refused any responsibility. Because I willingly sold him the car, I have no recourse, but just know that if you build a relationship with this person that he will eventually break that trust once he has you comfortable.

Sokrat has saved me a LOT of money, and possibly me and my kids from serious injury. I took my car to Sokrat after he was recommended by a friend. I was in need of a new mechanic since the previous shop I had been going to recently burnt down. I asked him to look at a couple specific things, so I could decide if it was worth doing some costly rust repairs to the underbody and keep the car going a while longer. After looking at the car, he called me in to show me just how extensive the rust damage had become. He told me the car was unsafe to drive, and if I'd been coming to his shop before, he would have advised me to take it off the road 2 or 3 years ago. He said the rust was so bad, that in a collision, the structural components would fail, which obviously could be deadly for anyone in the vehicle. He was outraged that the previous mechanic had passed inspection on it just 1.5 months ago, since it was clearly unsafe. He was further outraged to see that mechanic had sold me quite a few new parts that I was told I needed in order to pass inspection. It was a hefty bill, but I thought I could trust that mechanic, and I wanted to hold off getting a newer vehicle until my 2 young learning drivers are more experienced and less likely to damage the car. Now I have learned that he was ripping me off and putting me back on the road in a vehicle that could have killed us. Ultimately, Sokrat helped me to get all my money back from that other mechanic, and he didn't charge me a cent for his time and trouble. I greatly appreciated him giving me the bad news, since I'd rather be safe, and as I told the other guy when I blasted him over the phone, if he had told me the car needed to be taken off the road, I would have believed him. It's extremely discouraging to find mechanics I think I can trust, only to be let down and ripped off. I'm very grateful to Sokrat for helping me sort out this mess before anyone got hurt, and I'll be bringing our next vehicles to him for sure!

Sokrat did a major overhaul on my b5 S4. Engine out, new turbos, new differentials, and a bunch of more general engine maintenance while it was out. I normally work only my own cars but didn’t have the time for this job. He is the only person other than myself that I trust to work on my car and he does a great job. He’s very knowledgeable, high quality, and his pricing is fair. Highly recommended.
