I came in intending to buy a new carburetor for my snow blower, but since they didn’t have one in stock, the guy at the front desk said they could clean my existing carburetor for $25. That sounded reasonable, so I agreed. I brought the carburetor back in, was told it would be ready the next day, and to their credit, they did call me the following afternoon to say it was done. When I came to pick it up, I also bought a bottle of oil for an oil change, which was $10. At checkout, I was told the total was $67. I questioned the price because I was explicitly quoted $25 for the cleaning. Only then was I told that it “needed a rebuild kit,” which added $27, something that was never discussed, approved, or even mentioned beforehand. To be clear: • Original quoted price: $25 • Added rebuild kit (without notice): $27 • That is a 108% increase over the quoted price ($27 ÷ $25 = 108%) • And that’s before the $10 oil purchase The carburetor itself had been used fewer than five times, and while I admit I made the mistake of leaving gas in it (with stabilizer), I was never shown or clearly explained what was actually rebuilt. All the parts looked the same, and I was handed two extra gaskets that didn’t even fit. The biggest issue here isn’t the repair, it’s the lack of communication and authorization. You don’t double the cost of a service without calling the customer first. Had I been told upfront, I could have made an informed decision. This experience left a bad taste, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t return or recommend this place based on how this was handled.

View on GoogleGlad to find a dealership that services Toro outdoor power equipment nearby. They did service my Toro lawn mower in a reasonable time period a few years ago. My only complaint is that one of their employees seemed to be rude when answering phone calls, and their business hours are also not as convenient as some other repair shops. Maybe they should stay open until 5pm on weekdays and 12 noon on Saturdays, as most competitors do. I know of atleast one of their competitors who is open till 2pm on Saturdays, too.
