George Automotive in Danville has taken great care of my vehicles for years. I’m very particular about who touches my vehicles, and they’re easy to schedule with, quick to get the work done, and the quality has always been solid. They always follow up before service to remind me about appointments and check in afterward to make sure everything was done right and that I’m satisfied. If it’s something I don’t want to tackle myself, they’re always my first choice. The staff is super responsive, friendly, and easy to work with. It’s nice knowing I have a shop I can trust and count on every time. Highly recommend.

A very last minute scheduling to get my car inspected. I’m a busy single mom. With not much free time. And zero knowledge of vehicles. Jordan was able to get me in and out in what seemed like no time at all. Thank you so much for a stress free experience!

What a great find. My old mechanic retired which turned out to be a good thing. It forced me to finally stay within my own area for service.Great service here at George. Had a few special request which they handled no muss or fuss. The work done was terrific and way more through than my past experiences out side this area. Definitely a winner. I will be returning next year and anytime I need auto work.

Negative experience. Went in for an oil change which was fine, but when I went to pay they took me aside and recommended “emergent” brake servicing for safety for our family vehicle which seemed suspicious to me because of the newness of the car and relative recency of our purchase, but our last car had a braking issue so we’re a little sensitive to the topic, so I was going to pay the $1,200 to have pads, rotors, hoses and all changed out. But then they recommended several more maintenance items which I felt fairly certain were recently completed so I said I wasn’t interested. They pulled up the Carfax and pointed out that these items weren’t listed and so hadn’t been completed and were overdue. I countered that they could have been done and not listed on carfax. They said they needed to be done. What followed was a conversation with high-pressure techniques to try and schedule me for the $3000 of service which was framed to seem like I was irresponsible if I refused. I declined and proceeded to get repeated phone calls and text reminders to schedule the service for several months after. I later took my car to a different local shop, told them nothing of the recommendations from George’s, but asked them to evaluate my brakes. They did so and said that the only necessary repair was front pads and rotors which would cost $400 and that everything else looked fine. I try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt And I understand that there is relative subjectivity from one shop to the next and that variations in maintenance recommendations are normal and expected. So I do not fault George’s for wanting to make my car more updated and safer, or for being more prone to recommend service than other shops—that’s all fine. My negative experience centers around the customer service aspect: I felt that my concerns and values were dismissed, the urgency of the concern was exaggerated, and there was undue pressure to make decisions immediately and then persistent attempts to get me to schedule the service for months afterward, which feels a little like they were more concerned with my wallet than my safety. I won’t be returning to this business and wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.

UPDATE: after the repair I noticed a different issue arise immediately upon pickup of my car that was not there before the repair regarding a gasoline odor and an error message on my dash. I took my vehicle back to have the issue inspected since this was seemingly cause by the repair. After being assured they would resolve the issue, I was called after a incredibly short inspection with the mechanic stating the my car’s issues weren’t due to their repair, and I needed to pay more money for further diagnostics. I feel scammed. The smell and error message on my car did not happen before I asked for the repair and was occurring immediately after. Even though their receptionist acted very professionally and kind in conveying this to me, I still feel utterly scammed by this auto service since I now have a different problem with my vehicle that only occurred after their repair. Original: I Had an issue with my coolant and my car overheating and this was the only mechanic in the area with a decent turn around time. Little disappointed in the pricing and how they tried to sell me on more things but in the end they listened to what I requested.
