Eastern Mountain Sports

I visited this Eastern Mountain Sports location yesterday around 4:30 PM and had a mixed experience. The store itself was great with a men’s downstairs and wide variety there was an amazing sale and a really nice selection of items. I ended up purchasing what I came for because I genuinely loved the products! Unfortunately, the customer service at checkout was very disappointing. The salesperson who assisted me (I believe his name was Andrew, he was wearing plaid) was unpleasant and rude in his tone and responses ☹️. The interaction made me uncomfortable, and the way I was spoken to almost felt racially insensitive at the time. It took away from what should have been a positive shopping experience. My family and fiancé even suggested I return the items because of how I was treated, but I decided to keep them since I liked them so much. I hope management considers placing more welcoming and professional staff at the front, because the store itself is wonderful and I would like to shop here again without having the same experience.

Incredibly unprofessional staff. I've worked in outdoor gear shops/spaces as well and while it's good to be laid back, some employees are downright rude while others are too lax. After having a negative interaction with a staff member, I mentioned it to the woman cashing me out and was told that it "filled her cup for the day" and she proceeded to talk bad about her coworker to the other folks working. Time and place! I'm sure y'all are great, but I'm there to buy something, not be part of your coworker gossip. Anyways, mid gear at mid prices. Go to Mountaineer.

I went to this store just trying to take advantage of the discount and get a north face.but the cashier Andrew I think his name is was being so insanely rude to me for no reason. I’d hate to think it had to do with skin color but I couldn’t help but notice he was very kind and welcoming to the other guests. Reading reviews he may also be rude to others? I’d appreciate it if you could either talk to him or just put a sign that certain people aren’t welcome wish is find id love to know

You guys rock. Me and my fiancé came here to gear up for a high peaks mountain hike Labor Day weekend. PRATT was the associate who assisted us in selecting our gear and went above and beyond in helping us select the best gear for us and also teaching us a lot about hiking in the Adirondack region. He gave us his full attention, answered all our questions, gave us great advice, and did not make us feel rushed. JACK who was working the cash register did a great job checking us out in a timely manner even on a busy Labor Day weekend. We paid an extremely fair price for quality gear that made our hike so much better. If you are staying in Lake Placid and looking for gear look no further this is the place to go. Thank you!

Julie who works at EMS in Lake Placid, NY was amazing. She helped me get fitted for a backpack. She is very knowledgeable and shared many tips!! It also was totally enjoyable and fun to work with her!! Clearly outdoor nature inspired sports are her passion and it shows. She is a gem and i highly recommend going to talk to her if you are looking for the perfect gear for your adventure!! I love my new backpack!! Ty again Julie and EMS!! 💚🙌✨🌲
