Jay's Auto Repair

Jay's Auto was very highly recommended to me, by two employees at the Clifton Park Tire Fare.( who is the best place to go for tires). JAY'S took my vehicle in on very short notice, They did the work quickly and at a very fair price. I'm finally writing this; "I highly recommend " review. Thank you Jay's auto. I had called to get my car in to be looked at. Didn’t receive a time from Jay. Was just told to take my car in on Friday. I took my car in with my dad, who has been to Jay numerous times for his car and was never told a time he should bring it in by. My father has never had an issue, but Jay was insistent, when I got there, that he had told me to bring my car in at 8am. I know for a fact I wouldn’t have agreed to that because I work 5am-1pm. Jay didn’t even consider the possibility that he could’ve made a mistake and not told me a time, he was insistent that he told me 8am and said “I tell everyone 8am.” He did not tell me 8am on the phone, said he was booked for the next week, and that he couldn’t fit my car in. He didn’t try to remedy the situation at all and I received abysmal customer service. I can’t imagine how many cars Jay must get in, and I can’t imagine how much work he does. I know he does good work, charges fair prices, and is very busy. I also know that working on a car is not an immediate turnover. There was space in the lot for him to take my car and just wait to work on it. I was in no rush, I don’t care when it’s done, as long as it’s done. I work in customer service and there are many times where I make mistakes. I apologize, and I do my best to remedy that error. I did not appreciate how I was treated on the phone by Jay, who was very dismissive to begin with as he was forgetting to tell me to come in at 8am, and I did not appreciate how I was treated when I got there and told him I did not receive a time from him. I will not be returning to Jay’s auto for service in the future.

I never had issues with my vehicle or my wife’s car until I started having Jays auto do my oil changes and tire rotations. Ever since, I’ve noticed things going, breaking or leaking on both vehicles. From oil pans and control arms to alternators (both vehicles) and power steering leaks (both vehicles) and A/C compressors. The power steering leak on my truck was a sharp slice in the metal line under the rubber tubing that was deep enough to start leaking out from the end of the line. There is no way a rubber hose is going to make a slice like that in a metal line, I believe they cut it and eventually it would start leaking which it did, so he could sell me a power steering rack. A drive shaft. And a catalytic converter (both vehicles.) Converters don’t normally go bad on their own especially on two different vehicles that go to the same repair shop within a couple months apart. I even picked up my truck once and it had a check engine light for the alternator which was not on or showing any signs of going and no check engine light when I dropped it off. Coincidence? I don’t think so. I’ve been turning wrenches for over 20 years and thought he could be trusted to do things for me that I couldn’t do myself without a lift. He replaced my oil pan and it’s still leaking. I also noticed a cracked transfer case bracket from using the bracket as leverage when prying off the oil pan. This is all within a two year period for both cars. There is no way this many things are going to go wrong on two separate vehicles in two years. Coincidentally the issues on both vehicles were very similar to each other which throws another red flag. They are sweet to your face but hack your vehicle up to get you back. This is one place that will NEVER touch my vehicles again! If you go here bring your wallet because you will be back until you understand why I’m leaving this review.
