AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

I had such a great experience at AAMCO! The staff was so helpful from the first call. They went above & beyond to get my car fixed at the lowest price possible and had it done quickly. My car hasn’t driven this nice in quite a while.

​Warning: Predatory pricing and aggressive, unprofessional conduct. ​I had my vehicle brought here after a breakdown and was quoted nearly $1,700 for a water pump and belt—roughly double the fair market rate. They also tried to charge full individual labor for every single part, even though they are all removed at the same time. ​When I refused the overpriced repair and asked for my keys to have the car towed to another shop, the staff initially refused to release them. They claimed they couldn't give me my keys because the car was "not drivable," despite my tow truck being on its way. It wasn't until I threatened to call the police that they finally handed over my keys. ​In New York, it is illegal for a shop to hold your vehicle hostage like this. This was a blatant attempt at intimidation to force me into a repair I didn't want. If you are from out of town, stay far away from this location

Mark, Jarrett & Jeff are honest, professional and treat their customers right. They have a great team of mechanics that do a lot more than just transmissions. I highly recommend them.

I brought my Chevy S10 here a few years ago because transmission was not shifting properly, I was told I needed a new transmission and was quoted a ridiculous price. I drove truck home, did a little research and bought 2 new shift solenoids on Amazon for $30 and put them in myself in about 20min. 200000 miles later still runs perfect. Sorry but I do not trust this place.

I recently moved to White Plains and was looking for a reliable mechanic. After repeated issues with Mavis, I decided to try AAMCO and I’m so glad I did. Mark and Jarrett were great. I called thinking my axle was the problem, and Mark offered to diagnose the issue for free. I brought my car in the next morning, and they had it back to me by lunchtime. Thankfully it wasn’t the issue I feared, but Mark discovered my front tire was loose, something a previous shop failed to tighten. He was professional, honest, and didn’t charge me for simply tightening the bolts. If you’re looking for knowledgeable and trustworthy mechanics, this is the place to go!
