The staff were incredibly helpful and polite and fixed my bike's brake issues quickly for a very reasonable cost. The shop has many different bicycles and accessories, for kids as well. I will definitely be using this shop for anything related going forward.

UPDATE: Since posting this review on my fb page, THREE other cyclist friends of mine reached out to me saying that they had the identical problem. So, this is a not uncommon problem. ——————————- I have a bespoke old school steel Waterford (think Schwinn Paramount: the owner of Waterford, based in Waterford Wisconsin, is the great grandson of Schwinn), Campy down that I had built for me in 2009 so that I could pretend that I was 25 and not the 55 that I was and take a stab at doing one stage of the Tour de France (known as the Le Etape de Tour). This late summer, it developed a problem where it would make this horrible grinding sound while coasting downhill as I applied pressure on the right pedal, on a random and intermittent basis. These guys said that because it is intermittent, they won’t be able to figure it out, and because it is an “old bike” (16 year old steel frame that visually is in mint condition and other than this problem is in perfect mechanical condition?) they can’t get parts from their suppliers (even though I can find any part on eBay), therefore they can’t fix it even if they figured it out. This, after waiting a week for them to get back to me. I lived in nyc for 45 years. I called the shop in lower Manhattan that fitted me for the bike and built it up. I was able to speak to the owner immediately. He asked if the wheels were Mavic. I said yes. He said that I have a well known and well understood problem, that the Mavic hubs of 15 years ago, once they have more than x amount of thousands of miles on them, develop an issue with the bearings and make that noise when coasting at high speeds. He said that the Mavic company has been sold three times since then, and getting the parts therefore isn’t the easiest thing to do, but it is doable and he often even has some lying around in his shop because he sees the problem a few times a year and tries to keep them on hand. He said he will take a look around, to c’mon down, he will take care of me!!! Bryan’s Bikes is either not very knowledgeable, or they are just lazy and can’t be bothered, but they are not the only ones. I’ve been to three shops now in the Hudson Valley who couldn’t deal with this. The Hudson Valley needs more knowledgeable bike mechanics with a little bit more of a can-do spirit. So, off to Manhattan I go! Maybe if I get there early enough, and if they can fix it quickly enough, I can go out to Prospect Park for 10 laps, like the good old days, heart surgery or no!

I went in hoping to get a fourth hand tool and some cable for my rear derailleur, I had messed it up pretty badly trying to clean it up. They didn't have the tool but offered to take a look. Frank immediately noticed I had left out the bushing pictured. Since he could not adjust it properly he offered a moderately priced derailleur, installed at a fantastic price. I also was reminded about some of the maintenance I have been neglecting by listening to, I believe it was Walt, go over the basics for customer picking up their new bike.

Trek and Bontrager products lead the day. I’ve always loved every one of their products I ever bought including the Domane SL5 I bought this week. The staff at Bryan’s bikes over the last 17 years has never come up short on answering all my technical questions in an up to date way. I know I don’t need to spend time researching any thing I’ll ever need. They know their stuff and don’t live five years off the back. This shop is as good as it gets.
