I went to RNR Tires for an alignment because my truck had a noticeable vibration while driving. I clearly explained the vibration issue. They diagnosed the problem as failed upper and lower ball joints, a right outer tie rod, and a steering gearbox, and quoted me $3,500—$1,500 in parts and 10 hours of labor. I declined the repair, purchased the parts myself, and completed the work on my own. The job took 4½ hours and cost $700 in parts. After completing the work, the vibration was still present, confirming their diagnosis was incorrect. I then took the truck to Carson Truck and Auto Repair, where they quickly identified the actual issue: a loose, wobbling carrier bearing on the driveshaft. They replaced it, the problem was immediately resolved, and the repair only cost a few hundred dollars. The truck now drives smoothly and no longer feels like it’s going to fall apart at highway speeds. This was a clear case of misdiagnosis and unnecessary upselling by RNR Tires. Thankfully, Carson Truck and Auto Repair is an honest, hardworking shop. I trust them completely and will not take my truck anywhere else. Thank you!!
