S & K Muffler

I spent nearly $2,500 at this shop in a single week across two vehicles (A/C compressor hose and transmission oil cooler lines on a Cadillac ATS and rear wheel bearings on a Subaru Impreza). My experience with a transmission oil cooler line repair on my Cadillac ATS was not just a case of overcharging, but a total failure of safety and professional ethics. They billed me $980, in an attempt to justify 4+ hours of unnecessary labor by claiming they had to remove the steering rack to get to the transmission oil cooler lines. This is not the procedure documented in the service manual. Additionally, they charged list price for the part, claiming they received no discount from the dealership on part purchases. After a test drive, they pulled the car back in and I witnessed the technicians attempting a "manual alignment"—one holding the steering wheel straight while the other hammered on components underneath. When I asked the manager, Mark, if I should get a professional alignment since the rack was pulled, he wouldn't even look me in the eye and simply said, "Yeah, probably, I would if I were you." Upon inspecting the car myself immediately after leaving, I found: 1. STEERING RACK BOLT: The main mounting bolt was only halfway threaded into the chassis. The steering rack was literally unbolted from the car. 2. DISCONNECTED SWAY BAR: The front driver-side sway bar link was completely disconnected and dangling behind the wheel. 3. ZIP-TIED LINES: The new $529 lines were secured with a plastic zip tie instead of the factory-provided mounting bracket and bolt. 4. DANGLING PARTS: The engine mount vacuum hose and wiring harness were left unclipped and hanging. This shop billed me for "rack removal" but failed to actually bolt the rack back to the car. Returning a vehicle with loose steering and suspension is gross negligence. I am filing a formal complaint with the Michigan Bureau of Automotive Regulation (SOS-197). I have attached photos of the loose bolts and hanging suspension for public record. Avoid this shop if you value your safety.

I really wanted to like this place because I’ve heard good things from other people, but my experience at S&K Muffler in St. Clair Shores was disappointing. Communication was poor from the start, and I felt like I was being brushed off whenever I asked questions about the work being done. The service took longer than expected, and I left feeling unsure if the issue was even fully resolved. Customer service goes a long way, especially when people are spending money on vehicle repairs. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel valued as a customer here. Hoping they improve their professionalism and communication moving forward.

Never been here as a customer but driving by this morning and traffic backed up unusually long even for all the construction. Eventually got up there and it was older couple's van broken down in single lane. And looked like guy from this auto place had seen it and thrown gloves on and come out trying to help them under their hood in the middle of the street. That's a good man working here.

Brought my car here to get looked at. Ran codes at my house and they all pointed to catalytic converter. Took it here and they said it was good and nothing wrong with it or my o2 sensors and I needed my muffler replaced. Paid $1,300 for that and power steering line to get fixed.. picked it up and immediately took it to another shop for a 2nd opinion… 2nd shop says my catalytic converter is clogged and needs replacing along with all my O2 sensors which s&k said was perfectly fine. Wasted hundreds of dollars bc I was told there was nothing wrong with my catalytic converter and o2 sensors and needed a muffler.

They did a good job making it but they didn't build it how I wanted it i wanted x pip dull exhaust but the gave me a flow master y Muffler it not what I want Im just going to have my buddy do it how I want and It was pretty over priced
