The Detroit Garage

Well, I visited this place today with an appointment already scheduled to work on a repair and diagnostic. I am using a specific warranty as well so all of that was explained on the appointment request made through the website. Upon getting there, the sliding door to leave the car was half closed. No one was outside to greet customers so naturally I went into the office to ask for the appointment. It was two men in the office. No “Hello” upon me entering so I needed to say “Hello” myself. I mentioned that I had an appointment and the reason was a diagnosis as well as specific repair (which was already explained on the appointment request). The guy on the left looked the appointment on the computer and sternly told me “Well, for that kind of warranty we can get the vehicle in two weeks because that warranty takes a long time and we already have like four cars like that”. Neither himself nor the other guy pretended to care or mention whether there was any other option for me, the customer. It was a very strange interaction; I simply felt like they did not want me there. I said “Okay” and left. It must be the worst customer service I have observed in a mechanic/repair/car shop. I see that they have many good reviews and it feels unbelievable to me as I didn’t experience that at all today. Perhaps the kind of service they provide at this shop entirely depends on who goes into the office. I felt discouraged, judged, and the toughest part, not treated like a customer. It is likely that an answer would not be provided here and if so let alone a kind one, but I advise other customers not to take their vehicle here under any circumstances.

HORRIBLE…ROBBERY…..i originally talked to Tony over the phone gave him my vin and what I needed done. He said it’s a genuine part I said ok.Took the car next morning, I said I had couple other concerns check engine light a stuff Owen rights down everything a tells me I have to pay almost $300 for them to JUST diagnos the car. I said ok well it will go towards the work right? They said NO that’s just the diagnosis fees. I said forget let me just do the motor mount. Tony lied to my face an said it was a genuine part I seen the box was an aftermarket part anyways I said whatever no biggie then I called after 4 hours of dropping my car for an update They never started working on it, then the came back an told me it’s actually a difffernt mount and the price difference for that mount labor is $1100 more than the quote. Basically $1700 to put in on motor mount that’s more then the bmw dealer was charging my btw. I asked Owen which mount it is and he did not specify which mount all he said was the upper which is the one I initially told them. Yeah fishy…. Oh ontop of them trying to rip me off instead of bringing my car up front Owen just gave me my keys and said the car is parked in the back….what a man. You guys want to bring your vehicle here be careful with these guys they will try to rob you. Thankfully I’m not a dumb chic that can be fooled easily. Oh and Tony this may not be the last time you hear from me. I’m definitely going to make a complaint to bbb. **UPDATE** I wanted to recognize the area manager Matt for being professional, approachable, and supportive. He took the time to listen to my concerns and handled the situation with patience and understanding. Good communication and leadership like this truly make a difference. He offered a resolution of what happened but I chose to stick with the dealer. I’m going to have to leave it at one star just because it was an unnecessary inconvenience to me.

I’ve been going to The Detroit Garage Canton for my 2017 Mustang and every visit has been consistently great. The service is always professional, timely, and they actually respect your schedule which is rare with car work. Tony at the service desk deserves a huge shoutout. He explains everything clearly, never pushes unnecessary repairs, and makes the whole process smooth from drop off to pickup. And credit where it’s due the technicians in the shop clearly know what they’re doing. My car always comes back running perfectly, no loose ends, no guessing just solid work you can trust. It’s hard to find a shop that’s both honest and skilled, but this place has been reliable every single time. Definitely recommend if you want quality work and peace of mind.

This is the best auto care shop in Michigan. They treat you like family and never gouge you for an astronomical amount of money. Everyone there helps you understand exactly what the issue with your vehicle. I have been a loyal customer since they opened. I live next to Redford and commute to this location specifically for all these reasons. You will be in exceptionally knowledgeable hands when you come there.

These guys were great. They got me in the same day when pepboys denied my apt. The were quick and took care of my car as well. I'll be going back for sure to have my muffler fixed. This is my new go to garage for everything. Highly recommend going to them they're prices are better as well.
