Sol's Car Care

Wasn’t my experience. But I just had a friend get ripped off for a flat tire in an older car. 1 tire, nothing special about the tire, and an additional 100 for “expediting” the tire getting there….almost 500 😳. They should be ashamed.

DO NOT USE THIS SHOP … THEY HAVE BEEN RIPPING PEOPLE OFF FOR OVER 50 YEARS!!!!!!!!!! Henry is nice at first … But in the end he is a terrible person. I was told it would be $155 to check it out . That was the first lie.. it was $257 . He said I needed all these parts and it would be over $1800. That was the second lie . He was just nasty towards me. He said he replaced my battery. That is the third lie . I exchanged my battery at Costco. I paid him and took my car to my regular shop and fixed my car for $470 and that was with an oil change . My shop laughed at how much he tried to charge me . DO NOT LET HENRY ROB YOU … GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE .. I PROMISE YOU WILL GET BETTER WORK AND CHEAPER PRICES … I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO WHAT THE OTHER MAN ON THE REVIEWS SAID . HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. PLEASE DONT KEEP HIM IN BUSINESS FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS …HE IS ROBBING OUR COMMUNITY… I AM EVEN TAKING THIS TO THE BBB AND THE CITY OF BERKLEY ..

Took my Chevy Sonic to Sol's because it was generally misbehaving and I didn't know what the issue was. Henry worked to keep me informed while performing diagnostics and quickly figured out what the issues were. I was informed every step of the way and they worked so much faster than many other shops I've worked with in the past. Henry and his team went above and beyond to even get me a new key fob and program it. The pricing was super fair and lower than other local shops for similar services. My car runs beautifully now. Their hours are great, too. If you're a woman who has had experience with auto shops taking advantage of you, that won't happen here - I really felt like they cared about me and my safety as well as my budget. Yes, you'll pay a nominal fee for credit card use but those fees eat up already narrow margins for our small, locally owned businesses and I don't mind paying for the convenience of not needing to pull cash out to pay! I would much rather shop local and keep these small businesses open than see our community with only corporate options. Henry and the team at Sol's earned themselves a new pain in the butt (aka customer) for life!

My Huntington-Woods-based son needed to spend a week in Ann Arbor, but on the morning of his departure, his 2012 Jeep Liberty wouldn't start. I drove from Sterling Heights to lend him my car and then arrange towing of the Jeep to nearby Sol's Complete Car Care. I had never been to Sol's, but my AAA road hazard policy gives me only five miles of towing, about a third of the distance to my preferred auto-repair shop in Sterling Heights. Despite having a parking lot that was packed to the gills, Sol's put my son's Jeep on a hoist as soon as it was dropped off, and the whole job was completed in 48 hours. So..."Good on Sol's!" But what I DIDN'T like about the experience was Sol's "no checks" policy and a "3% Surcharge on Credit Card Transactions", which together essentially make Sol's a cash-only establishment. I saw the "No Checks" sign on the day the Jeep was towed to Sol's, but I didn't notice the credit-card surcharge sign; and the friendly manager didn't mention it until it was time to pay up. It goes without saying that, had I been made aware of the 3% surcharge, I would have stopped at my bank to make a cash withdrawal BEFORE picking up the vehicle. Lastly, while handing-over my credit card, I asked the manager if Sol's offers any discounts (for example, a percentage off the total bill to AAA members). His reply was, "Did you see our lot?", which was his way of indicating that Sol's doesn't offer discounts, coupons or a rewards program because business is always booming. "Good for Sol's!"

TAKE YOUR VEHICLE SOMEWHERE ELSE! DO NOT SKIP THIS REVIEW! I recently brought my vehicle to address a check engine light issue. Initially, I appreciated the apparent care they took in resolving the problem. However, my overall experience was nothing short of a nightmare. Firstly, I was shocked when I received the bill for the service. I assumed the higher cost indicated a superior quality of service, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Not only was the service far from satisfactory, but it also proved to be a complete waste of money. To add insult to injury, just three days after the supposed "fix," my vehicle shut off while I was merging onto the freeway. The timing of this failure was not only inconvenient but downright dangerous. When I contacted Henry (the manager) to address the issue, expecting him to take responsibility for his work, I was met with nothing but excuses and blame-shifting. The most infuriating part of this ordeal was when Henry insinuated that I must have done something to the car in the mere two days I had it back. I paid for a diagnostic, labor, and parts to rectify the issues highlighted in the diagnosis. I trusted that I was paying for competence and expertise. However, instead of acknowledging their mistake, the representative callously stated, "I don't have x-ray vision, so I can't see how messed up a piece is." This is a blatant contradiction to what I paid for – a diagnostic followed by the necessary repairs based on that diagnosis. It is disheartening to see this complete evasion of accountability and fail to stand behind the quality of their work. I expected a higher standard from Sol's based on their 4+ star rating. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice before entrusting their vehicle to a place that fails to guarantee the accuracy of their own diagnoses.
