Prius Kings provides an affordable way to replace your hybrid battery, but there are some important things to know before you do business with them. The most important point is that the Prius King replacement batteries are not reliable and will need to be replaced frequently. Your Prius hybrid battery consists of 28 modules with 6 cells in each module for a total of 168 battery cells. Prius Kings refurbishes those cells and can replace modules or your entire hybrid battery. However, those refurbished 168 cells provide a lot of points that can fail. If a handful of cells fail to hold a full charge, then low voltage from a module will cripple your Prius. When buying a hybrid battery from Prius Kings, you must buy the longest possible warranty coverage. In my experience, the Prius Kings hybrid battery failed every 6-18 months – 12 months on average. The warranty covers the cost of the replacement modules, but it doesn’t cover the labor cost of having a Prius Kings technician replace the modules/battery. That labor charge averaged $400-500 each time the battery failed. Before Prius Kings will respond to your request to replace your battery, they will ask you to provide pictures of the failure codes from your car’s computer port. Take your car to a local auto-parts store and they will generate the failure codes for free. Use your phone to take pictures of the failure codes. Don’t bother taking your car to the dealer to get this done. The dealer will charge too much to check your hybrid battery and won’t understand that you need actual pictures of the failure codes. Prius Kings is slow to respond to requests to replace your battery. In my experience, it can take 4+ weeks to get everything done. First, the Prius Kings office may take a couple weeks to respond to the online request. Try calling the office after you submit the online request. Then it will take a couple more weeks to get the work scheduled. Here in the Boston area, there’s one technician and he primarily works on weekends. He’s slow to respond with his availability and I waited 2 weeks before he provided potential dates for getting the work done. You’ll be asked to pay for the work before the technician comes out. Read the fine print in the contract. There are additional charges depending on how you pay. In my case, they insisted that I pay by credit card, then afterwards they charged me an additional 3% for credit card processing. When I complained about the hidden charge, they said it was my fault for not reading the fine print in the contract. The Prius King technician comes to your house and does all the work. As part of this process, he resets the computer in your car. If you’ve played with any of the computer settings to do anything like turning off the reverse beeps, then ask him to restore those settings. Once you head down the path of using Prius Kings to replace your hybrid battery, you’ll be stuck with them for however long you keep that Prius because it’s too expensive to switch to a different hybrid battery.

My son's 2010 Prius gave us the dreaded "Check Hybrid System" alert one morning. We took it to a Toyota dealer, but once they spotted a mouse nest in the trunk area, they wouldn't touch it without paying them $1,500 to assess the possible mouse damage to the battery. They recommended calling our insurance company who would probably total the car. We said "No thank you" and called PriusKings. Bob came out, disassembled the battery assembly, found the chewed wires, and even disposed of the mouse nests and long-deceased mouse. He then installed a reconditioned battery with nice new wiring harnesses, all for a bit more than Toyota wanted just to diagnose the issue. We couldn't be happier.
