Christian Brothers Automotive Eagle Township

I saw a lot of positive reviews about Christian Brothers that’s why I decided to go there. I was there today for my vehicle inspection. It is a very good place to take your vehicle. I recommend. The staff are knowledgeable and know what they are doing. I was welcomed with a smile from the man I met when I walked in. I think his name is Richard. The place is neat. There’s also complimentary coffee there. There was also a bible in the waiting area. I really loved that.

I would recommend just taking your car to the dealer if you’re going to pay their prices. I brought my car in for a rough idle. Payed them $550+ which included the $180 diagnostic fee. They diagnosed it as a dirty throttle body. They cleaned it, did a relearn, then said it was fixed. When I picked up the car, it was significantly worse. Now it stalls completely when I put it in park. Brought it back a second time, and they couldn’t figure anything out after having it for almost a week. They wouldn’t give me a straight answer about smoke testing it either, always dodging the question. I investigated under the hood a bit after picking it up the second time and discovered they put the air box back on crooked which cracked one of the alignment fins and caused dirty air to get into the intake from the cracked fin being smashed into the air filter. It’s wild that I paid $550+ for them to make my car run worse and damage my airbox.

We had a very negative experience with Christian Brothers and would not recommend them based on what happened with our vehicle. We brought the car in because the check engine light was on and a diagnostic showed a misfire on cylinder 2. We needed the spark plugs removed and replaced — something we couldn’t do ourselves because they were stuck. My husband explained the whole situation when we dropped off the vehicle. They quoted him about $300. Later, Christian Brothers told us they were having trouble removing the spark plugs and would need to soak them in PB Blaster to try to loosen them up before they could try to remove them. They got 3 of them out and broke one off. They now wanted $5800 to send the vehicle to the machine shop, pull the cylinder block, and whatever else to get the spark plug out. My husband told them no. They told him the car was completely dead now and wouldn’t run at all. So, we arranged for a tow truck to come pick it up and bring it home. My husband had to pay Christian Brothers over $600 so they could release our vehicle to the tow company. Imagine how surprised we were when the tow driver showed up, started the car, and DROVE IT OFF THE TRAILER. Upon further inspection, they had not tightened down the coils for the 3 plugs they replaced and all the screws were loose. The intake was loose and a screw is missing. They also said they used PB Blaster, but everything was dry, so who knows. They broke an extractor off inside and left it in there and didn't tell us about it. Overall, I would not recommend AT ALL. Take your car to the dealer or find a different local mechanic. It's probably going to be cheaper and you'll get better service. Edited to add, my husband was able to get the easy out you broke off in the sparkplug hole out with a socket and a ratchet, no $5800 trip to a machine shop needed. See photo.

The people who helped me were very kind and professional, which I appreciated. However, in retrospect I'm a bit disappointed with my experience. I brought my vehicle in due to an unexplained odor. They took a look but weren't able to identify the source of the odor. I was charged $170. Doesn't seem like a great deal. They also conducted a diagnostic inspection without asking and recommended some unrelated repairs. That's fine, but I brought the vehicle in due to the odor, and that's really all I was concerned about. UPDATE: Jared reached out to me about my experience and we had a great conversation. He more than made it right, and I greatly appreciated his assistance.

This location is very good. Their pricing is competitive on most services and the folks in there are very honest with you. Oil changes specifically are a good price and they are on time every visit I schedule.
