I’ve been to this shop three times, and every single visit came with problems. The first time, they changed my oil and spark plugs. When I picked up my car the same day, I noticed that my windshield had been cracked while the vehicle was in their possession. When I brought it up, they refused to show me the security camera footage and told me that this “sometimes happens on a Toyota Prius when removing the upper engine cover because pressure can crack the windshield.” That is one of the most ridiculous explanations I have ever heard. I had photos of my car taken before I dropped it off, and the windshield was clearly undamaged. Instead of taking responsibility and replacing it at their expense, they tried to sell me a replacement windshield. After a lot of arguing and frustration, they finally offered only a $100 discount, even though the damage occurred while my car was in their care. About six months ago, I also paid around $450 for a replacement battery. Now the battery has already failed. I brought it back under warranty and left it with them for two days because an employee said it might simply need to be recharged. When I returned, the owner told me they could not honor the warranty unless I brought them the entire vehicle. This makes no sense. I have the original receipt, and they have the battery information and installation records in their system. Between the overpriced repairs, damaged property, poor customer service, and refusal to properly honor their warranty, I cannot recommend this shop. Every visit has resulted in another problem, and instead of taking responsibility, they seem to look for excuses. I will never return and would strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere.

I’m not one to leave negative reviews, as I understand that mistakes happen, and people should be given the opportunity to make things right. After my experience with Firestone - Auto ProCare, however, I feel obligated to say something. Yesterday was my first time visiting this shop. I had just installed new tires, and called to see if they could fit me in for an alignment. I was assured they could squeeze me in right after the car currently getting aligned was done. From the time I arrived for my alignment, to the time I was able to leave, nearly 3 hours had passed. Shortly after leaving, I noticed I was missing a rocker panel. I immediately drove back to the shop, but the manager was no longer there. One of the technicians went to the back, and retrieved my missing rocker panel, and told me it fell off the car as they were taking the car off the rack. Why was this not disclosed to me before I left? It almost felt like they were trying to hide it from me. If I hadn’t noticed and came back the next day, would the rocker panel have been thrown away? Today, after speaking with another shop about what to do to refasten my rocker panel, they suggested I first revisit Firestone. Not only to see if they offered up any solutions, but to also have them fix the alignment they had performed the day before, since my steering wheel was not straight. On this 3rd visit to Firestone, I was able to speak to the manager about what transpired yesterday, and to address my crooked steering wheel. He called in the technician who performed the work to ask what happened. The technician informed the manager the panel had indeed fallen off while taking the car off the rack, but he had told someone else to tell me about it. The manager then asked the women at the front counter if I was informed about my rocker panel falling off, and she confirmed that I was not. They agreed to straighten the steering wheel, and said they could not do anything about the panel, as the rot was very bad and had no way of securing it. I watch my car coming down from the alignment rack (no alignment equipment was used this time) and midway down the ramp, my car reverses course and goes up the ramps, only to very slowly, and gingerly reverse down, once again. From my vantage point, I can only see the passenger side of my car, and noticed how incredibly close it came to bottoming out and striking the ramps. Once home, I notice a VERY SIZABLE DENT in the front rocker panel, almost as if that side of the car DID INDEED bottom out on the ramps. Considering how close the passenger side came to striking the ramps, it seemed all the more likely the driver side would have, especially from the added weight of an occupant on that side of the car. Perhaps this happened yesterday, as well? Causing the other rocker panel to fall off from the impact? Now for the 4th time, I returned to Firestone. I explained to the manager about the sizable dent on my other rocker panel, and what I assumed happened. He said it was not possible, as they drive very slowly and carefully on and off the alignment rack. The manager sent the technician out to take a look at the car, and he parroted what the manager had told me, offering no explanation as to how this dent could have occurred, conveniently located directly in the center of my car. I strongly advise against visiting this shop and giving them your patronage.

I just moved to the neighborhood and found this auto shop. I am beyond a happy customer. I got everything done in one spot for a very good price. My brake booster, tires and oil change. The owner is a very nice man who continues to give us very good prices because we continue to come back. He makes sure we are done as soon as possible and makes sure we are completely satisfied with both work and price. Definitely stumbled upon a Gem.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Firestone ProCare since I moved to Wood Dale four years ago. They were very fair with pricing, and the service has been good. However, in the past couple of years I’ve had issues with their service. The following are my recent experiences. 1) I brought my wife’s car in for a basic oil change. Later, after taking the same car to the dealership for an unrelated repair, they told me there was significant oil spillage on top of the engine from a recent oil change. I had to pay to have the engine cleaned. 2) I took my other car in for a brake job at Firestone, which was completed without issue. However, afterward I noticed one of my rear wheels had only four lug nuts (instead of the original five). I brought this to the mechanic’s attention, but he refused to take responsibility for the missing lug nut and would not replace it. 3) Recently I had a front-end brake job completed. Eight months later, I heard a metal rasping sound from the right front end. The owner honored the warranty (thankfully). However, the only explanation the owner offered was that “the car was old and things break.” I explained that the brakes were only eight months old and that the parts in question were related to the recent brake job. I later spoke with the mechanic who fixed the issue, and he explained the front-end raspy/grinding noise was due to a seized (stuck) caliper and corroded slide pins. I greatly appreciated the mechanic’s explanation, but I did not appreciate the owner attributing the issue solely to the car being “old.” As I was waiting for the repair (3) two other customers walked in complaining about a recent service issue as well. Unfortunately, the trust I had in Firestone (Wood Dale) four years ago has slowly withered, and I can no longer recommend them. If you need a very basic service, they may be a place to consider—but I would proceed with caution.

The owner of the place was very rude. He didn’t do the job on my car properly, and when I noticed the problem I went back to try to reach an agreement. However, he refused to fix what he hadn’t done correctly and did not give me any refund. In my experience, I would not go back to this place or recommend that anyone else go there. 🚗
