My vehicle was in an accident and the striking vehicle had Progressive Insurance. Progressive has a contact with the Kallemeyn so that’s where I took my vehicle. After a being in the shop 3-4 days I got the vehicle back with scratches all over the hood and body of the vehicle. I also noticed the rear sensors were malfunctioning. I had to take the vehicle to another mechanic to have the rest of the repairs that Progressive declined repaired and diagnose the sensor issues. After a couple more days I got a diagnosis. The sensors were installed backwards, which explains why I am getting a constant lane assist warning. I reached out to the body shop to relate my vehicle was damaged while in their care and the sensors were installed incorrectly. I was told we’ll have someone reach out. A few days goes by and I didn’t hear anything. I notified David at Progressive that their contracted body shop damaged the vehicle and installed the sensors backwards. Progressive said to just take it back to Kallemeyn because they already paid for the work. I am not going back to this place so they can further ruin my vehicle. I have photos and videos of the damage. I understand that mistakes happen, but I have had to fight with Progressive every step of the way just to get them to do the right thing and yet they still refuse to act in good faith. I had to pay for an estimate the remove the bumper and properly install the sensors. Of course Progressive will not cover the cost to have the damage repaired at another shop nor will they cover the cost of the rental car while I got the problem assessed. Now I’ve paid close to $500 for a rental car, the sensors are still backwards, and there’s scratches all over the vehicle. I actually really enjoyed speaking with Marie at Kallemeyn who really tried to help me and actually spoke with Progressive on my behalf. She was very nice and very professional. As a matter of fact, their entire staff was friendly and nice, it’s unfortunate their work quality did not match. Either way, I’m sure the shop will offer to fix the sensors and scratches because they want to keep their contract with Progressive. I am going to have to escalate this claim with progressive, pay out of pocket to repair the damage done by this shop, or file a claim on my insurance even though we are not the at-fault vehicle. This entire situation is why people don’t trust anyone in the car industry and also hate insurance companies. In my opinion Progressive acted in bad faith and Kallemeyn failed at what appears to be the most basic repair. I grew up in Palos Heights and drove by this body shop for over 30 years. I figured it had to be good due to its longstanding business. I’m very disappointed and I will not be giving them another opportunity to work on my vehicle. K. Coyne

Woke up to a flat tire on our suv. Stopped by Kallemeyn Auto Center and dropped my tire off. Upon entering the building you can see the spotlessly clean waiting area and front desk. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Pricing was phenomenally fair and we’ve now found our local go to shop. Especially like the Chicago Police Memorial dog outside as my parents are retired CPD and actively volunteer with the Memorial Foundation weekly.
