Been going here for ten plus years. I’ve had two transmissions replaced plus multiple other repairs. Mike always did high quality work for a very reasonable price. I just had the new owner and his “apprentice” do some work on my truck and it took way longer than it should have and the price was more than if I took it to a dealership. My truck now feels very loose in the steering and after reading the most recent reviews I will be taking it to my buddy who’s a mechanic to double check the work that was done by them. It’s sad to see mikes hard earned reputation being ruined.

They forget to tighten my front calipers. They came off on the highway with my family in the car. We could have been seriously injured. Do not take your vehicle here.

This is an FYI for community members that may need automotive repairs to think twice before using TRS Auto Repair on Southwest Hwy. Its a very long story but in a nutshell they replaced two transmissions, two torque converters and a variety of other parts costing thousands and took months, not weeks, months. Less than a week after picking up the truck the transmission overheated in Michigan. After a tow to a Michigan Ford dealership, they showed us that the aftermarket transmission cooler was improperly installed. Because it overheated and the cooler was installed incorrectly the transmission warranty was now void. We had to pay Ford $1300 to fix the mistakes. While driving home the trans started slipping and broke down again. We had it towed to TRS from Michigan for another $1000. A month later (they had the truck that long) they say they say we need a third transmission and want to charge us again! The truck was in worse shape than the day we brought it in, we were out about $10,000 in repairs and tows and had a truck that wasn't drivable. We had the truck towed again, from TRS to McCarthy Ford costing another tow and repairs. I spoke to Michael McLaughlin the owner, who also owns Polar Heating and Air Conditioning and he says he knew nothing about this four month ordeal. He assured me he would do the right thing. That was three weeks ago. I filed with BBB, Chase and will start looking into consumer protection and small claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. Update 1-12-25 Unfortunately, Michael McLaughlin’s (owner of Polar and TRS Automotive) questionable business practices and complete lack of customer care has not only forced me to contact the BBB but now I had to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency. Thousands and thousands of dollars put out with nothing to show for it. This is after he assured me a phone call within two days to “do the right thing”. We do not need businesses like this in Orland Park. Note- the other reviews you read about “Mike” are about the mechanic Mike who no longer works there (for about a year and a half). Not Mike McLaughlin.

I had them rebuild a transmission for me and I was expecting a couple week turnaround at least… They actually finished my transmission in about four days and was waiting on me to come pick it up LOL the guys they were really friendly and really knowledgeable… Answered every question I had and even throw in a few suggestions for my application… This is my new transmission shop

I usually don’t write reviews but I’ve been silent for too long. First, I do not use my car more than once a week as I work from home. I just had a 2nd issue with this establishment where I took my car in for a very simple issue and after they took a look at my car, the vehicle is now showing more issues than the initial visit. As of now, my car is still having these problems concerning other parts. When I took my car back to TRS they provided no solution and just wanted to charge over 1,000$ for something they didn’t even know how to fix. I have no benefit of bad-mouthing this place for no reason. I only stating this as now I am struggling to find someone who can actually fix my car with more issues than the initial visit. If I am ever desperate to go to TRS, it will only be for a tune up; and even then I’m hesitant
