I recently had my car serviced at AAMCO before a 17-hour road trip from Chicago to Orlando, Florida, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the experience—especially for the outstanding help I received from Seth. From the moment I walked in, Seth made me feel like my trip actually mattered to him. I explained that I was about to take a long highway drive and wanted to make sure my car was completely reliable. My car was ready when promised, everything was explained before and after service, and the pricing was fair and straightforward. By the time I left, I felt completely confident that my vehicle was road-trip ready. That confidence proved to be well placed. The drive from Chicago to Orlando was smooth and worry-free, even through long stretches of highway driving and changing weather conditions. Knowing my car had been properly checked and serviced gave me real peace of mind the entire trip. It’s rare to find service that combines technical skill, honesty, and genuine customer care, but Seth delivered on all three. He represents the kind of professionalism that builds long-term trust, and he turned what could have been a stressful pre-trip task into a reassuring experience. Back in mid April 2026, after driving almost 3 hours in my 2012 nissan rogue to visit my daughter for her birthday and spend a couple relaxing days with my awesome new grandson - well, 3 miles away from my exit off the highway to my destination, I started experiencing serious issues. The next morning it fired right up and originally had intended to get my oil and other fluids serviced before I left, but figured it could wait until I got back after literally checking them myself before leaving. So, the next morning I immediately took it to a nearby jiffy lube and let them know the situation - it was still driving a little odd. While being serviced, it was discovered that my car (a cvt transmission requiring blue fluid and not my first one) actually had normal manual (red) fluid in it. So they recommend still early on a Tuesday morning, to take it up the road to this AAMCO transmission shop. Definitely not what I had planned for day 1 of my trip but not being a local anymore, I had no other option, and I'm glad I did. I was immediately greeted with smiles, a very polite lady (can't recall her name) started taking all my info and getting the details. She seemed very knowledgeable, helpful and made me feel very welcome. After 15 minutes or so a guy named Seth introduced himself who had been on the phone with a customer since I walked in. He immediately introduced himself as the owner and to my surprise, not just the manager. After asking me a few more questions, (as he had been listening to me as I spoke to her) he got me slid right in. It was already extremely busy when I pulled up for a diagnostic, so I was very happy to hear that he could get it done as I waited. As I waited for the diagnostic, Seth took the time between calls and other business explaining in much mechanical detail (no stranger to the subject) exactly what could be wrong with my vehicle, and all the available solutions or processes that would be needed depending on the severity of the potential issues (which may or may not manifest long term – for my own knowledge down the road after getting home). He was a very patient guy and knew his business. At that point, once they diagnosed my car, he took me out to my car with his tech and ran down a list of items with rough prices, advising me on all my options as refreshingly transparent as a guy could be. After making a plan, my daughter came and got me so I could still enjoy my trip. Seth, called me a few hours later to come pick it up. Seth is a top notch business owner and I highly recommend them. He helped me out in a pinch, and they in turn drained and filled my transmission twice, test drove it, couldn't find anything else wrong with it and sent me on my way. With all that being said, 5+weeks and 1500 miles later - so far it definitely drives differently - but not necessarily in a bad way, or even transmission related. It's gotten the job done with zero real issues thus far. I bought it with 150K on the dash, after it hit a deer and it got rebuilt on the cheap, sold at auction, then sold to me on the cheap from a used lot. It was never intended to do more than simply get me from point A to point B for 50K more miles if I was lucky. 35K or 3-4 years to go...if something does break eventually it certainly wasn't in the cards and not your fault, but so far so good. Like I said that day to everyone's astonishment that my car was still running and apparently looking for some kind of rational explanation, I suggested, "Jesus loves me?" - and it appears he's still riding co-pilot to this day. Now if only our glorious IL government could pick up and fix the roads so I would quit popping tires, that would be spectacular too. Thanks again, Seth & team. Keep it real. - Mark G.

The transmission in my truck is malfunctioning! Seth and Tiaz were VERY honest and they gave me counsel on how to proceed with my truck. In addition, they didn’t try to persuade me to get my truck serviced just to make dollar. They carefully explained everything that was going on with my truck and gave me specific directions and options when discussing prices. I took my car to AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care and at first, my experience was actually good. When I first met Seth, he was kind, understanding, and genuinely seemed to care about helping his customers. Because of that, I even left a positive review before. However, my most recent experience completely changed my impression and not in a good way. I went in for a transmission fluid service and was initially quoted $240 by Seth. After that, things became confusing and frustrating. I spoke with another woman to set up the appointment, and then today I dealt with a woman named Tyese (not sure of spelling). Her attitude was extremely standoffish from the start. The customer service from the women working there was honestly terrible. Their tone came off rude, dismissive, and like I was wasting their time. Instead of being treated like a customer, I felt like just another number. What made it worse was the pricing inconsistency: • First quote: $240 • Then a link sent showing: $245 • Then told verbally: $270 • Then it jumped again to: $279 That kind of constant price fluctuation is unacceptable. It feels unprofessional and untrustworthy. When I expressed that I would rather take my car somewhere else due to the changing prices, the response I got was cold and dismissive. There was no attempt to fix the situation or show any care. The keys were handed back with a “whatever” attitude, and that was it. This was extremely disappointing, especially because my first impression thanks to Seth was so positive. But one good employee cannot make up for a staff that treats customers poorly. People go through enough in life. The least a business can do is treat customers with basic respect and honesty. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Seth, if you see this thank you for your kindness in the beginning. But I strongly suggest reevaluating your staff, because the way customers are being treated now will drive people away.

I had a wonderful experience at AAMCO! Seth was clear, honest, and kept me updated the whole time, which I really valued. Owen brought solid expertise and took great care of my ’09 Ram 1500. Everything was handled professionally, 10/10 would recommend and I will be returning.
