Subaru Service - Liberty Subaru

I scheduled a routine service for 11 AM but showed up at 10 AM. They did not question why I was early and took me in right away. They quoted me one hour and 15 minutes for the service and were able to provide that service within the time they told Me that it would take. The video that they sent to show what they did was greatly appreciated and not something that I have ever seen before. Nice job by the Subaru service center and staff! The waiting area with complementary coffee, water and snack bars was also a nice touch.

I was able to easily make an appointment for my 60,000 mile maintenance. My service tech was Justin who is professional, helpful, friendly and always provides me with excellent service! He communicates with me throughout the service process. The service was completed in good time and the cost was communicated to me ahead of time. Highly recommend Liberty Subaru.

I have been a loyal customer at this dealership/service center since purchasing my first Subaru in 2016. Unfortunately, the service department has become unrecognizable since my last service 6 months ago. My car was just in the shop for two weeks and trying to get a simple status update was nearly impossible. The new AI answering/texting service is a nightmare. While I understand the goal is to lighten the workload on the techs, it feels designed to prevent you from speaking to a human. Despite calling frequently, sometimes (unfortunately) multiple times a day for a status update, I only managed to reach and speak to an actual person three times in 14 days. I was never called that the repairs were completed - instead I received a text message. When I went to pick up my car, I was told to pay and handed my keys. Again, no communication. This was an extremely frustrating and unfortunate situation, especially after using this service center exclusively for 10 years (despite there being multiple Subaru dealerships closer to me). I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I had a very stressful and frustrating experience with Libertyville Subaru’s service department. I brought my Subaru Ascent in on my way to work because the trunk would not latch. They charged the standard diagnostic fee, which I expected, but then told me the lock needed to be replaced and quoted me around $1,000 for the repair. Something didn’t sit right, so I called another Subaru dealership and was quoted literally half the price for the same repair. Here’s the worst part: when I went to pick up my car, the trunk latch was working perfectly. The lock was not broken at all. It turns out the issue was simply due to cold weather. Had I not come back to get my car, I would have been charged $1,000 for a repair that was completely unnecessary. Customer service was awful from start to finish from James. The price kept changing every time I asked for clarification, no one could clearly explain what was supposedly broken, and I was repeatedly told they “didn’t know the history of the car” and that the lock must have broken somehow. I was treated like they couldn’t care less whether I was there or not. This experience felt deceptive and stressful, and it completely broke my trust. I would not recommend this service department and will not be returning.
